Hi I'm Alva

I am a mother, wife, sister, daughter, friend, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am blessed to be the mother of 3 beautiful, and completely different daughters. My husband and I have been married for 11 years, and I can honestly say I love him more today than I did the day we were married. I love being a homemaker, and find great satisfaction in cooking, cleaning and taking care of my home and my family. That doesn't mean it's easy, just that I find it rewarding. I am one of six children. Ours is a "his, mine and ours" family. My mother died when I was 5 years old, me being the youngest of 3 daughters. Shortly after, my dad met and married a wonderful woman with a 3 year old daughter of her own, and together they had 2 sons. I enjoy spending time with them. I love playing volleyball, wallyball (volleyball in a racquetball court), running (not really but I feel good after), and reading.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born and raised in a home where the gospel of Jesus Christ was taught and lived. I always believed in my Savior, Jesus Christ and I honestly can only remember a couple of times in my life when I doubted or didn't completely understand a certain principle or doctrine. It was then that I would pray to my Heavenly Father, and the peace and assurance would come to me that cleared my understanding and erased my doubt. I served a mission for the church in Boise, Idaho, and continued to learn and grown in my testimony. There is so much peace and comfort in the knowledge of the love of our Savior, and the Atonement. I also love the scriptures. Both the Book of Mormon and The Bible have taught me of the Savior and of our Heavenly Fathers plan for us. I know that I can get through anything with the help of our Savior and our Heavenly Father.

How I live my faith

I have had the opportunity over the years to teach the young children of the church, called the Primary, as well as the Young Women and currently I am serving in the Relief Society, which is the Organization for Women in the church. I help plan and carry out activity and meeting for the women throughout the year. It is rewarding to work along side other women the help each other and lift each others burdens. I have enjoyed being involved in Humanitarian efforts, and love the feeling of serving others, whether it's for a need in our own community, or a need in a different part of the world. The feeling is great! When I have the time I also enjoy volunteering at our children's school. I know our girls love it too!
