Hi I'm Gabby

I am a Cali girl, I am a stay at home mom, I am a wife and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I was born in Guatemala. My family moved to the States when I was two. I grew up in Southern California. I love the beach. After a hard day, hearing the waves crash and seeing the beauty of the ocean would help me remember that life was bigger than the problem at hand. I am a stay-at-home mom. Now I can say that I love being at home with my son. At the beginning it was really hard. I enjoyed working and being successful. I am a Medical Assistant and I wanted to go to school to be a doctor. The transition from working to staying at home was hard for me because I couldn't measure my success staying at home. I wasn't getting a raise, recognition or anything else I would if I was working. But I soon realized that seeing my son take his first steps, hearing him say Momma was a thousand times better than anything a job can give to me. Being a mother is my greatest success

Why I am a Mormon

I was blessed to be born in a family where my parents are Mormon. Since childhood, I learned that I was a daughter of God. I grew up in Los Angeles, where life can be a little tricky for teenagers. I was faced with many things that tried my faith. I got to a point where I wasn't sure if I was following the religion for me or for my parents. What helped me was Seminary. My four years of high school I woke up at 5am to go to a religion class where I studied the scriptures. I remember reading the Book of Mormon for the first time in Seminary. As i finished the book, I prayed to know if it was true. I didn't have a vision or anything grand. I remember feeling love, peace and joy. I knew that Heavenly Father was aware of me and He was there for me. After that, being a teenager wasn't tricky any longer. I knew what I had to do and I did it. Prayer became my constant way to communicate with Heavenly Father. The scriptures where the way I got to know my Savior Jesus Christ better. I figured, how can you trust someone you don't know? Well, I got to know my Savior and my Heavenly Father. I know they live and they love me. I know that as I follow and keep God's commandments, I can feel love, peace and joy.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by remembering who I am and where I come from. Always remembering that I am a daughter of God helps me act and treat others as my brothers and sisters. I strive to teach my one year old the same values my parents taught me. I know life here on earth has a purpose. Family is important in this purpose and I make sure to put my family first. I am currently working with the children in our congregation. I had a four year old remind me how he knows that Jesus loved him. He said "I know he loves me because he gave me my mommy and daddy". As I teach these children and my son the principles of the gospel of Jesus Christ, they too will come to know our Savior and Heavenly Father as I have come to know them. As a daughter of God, I strive to do my best in all I do. Sometimes I may come short. My house may be a little untidy at times, I may forget a few things here or there, but I know everyday, that as I do my best and do my part, my loving Heavenly Father will do the rest
