Hi I'm Lorna

I'm a Mormon. I am a mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.

About Me

I was raised on a little farm in New Mexico, but ended up in a mining town in Arizona. By this time we had 6 children. I thought all my time would be at home and in my Church - but mining towns mean strikes - and strikes wipe out all the gain you have made for a few years - so I started a small fast food business and spent many years flipping burgers. It gave us extra money & provided employment for my children. It was a good life.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born in the Church. I have always known it was true. But I wasn't always committed to living its teachings because I married outside the Church. When the missionaries came to teach my husband the gospel they converted me - and he didn't join the Church for two more years. Living the teachings of our Savior through the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day-Saints brings more blessings than I can count. We are counseled by living prophets to improve our lives - to become more like our Savior. It is a Church of service - there is no paid ministry - and so there is a job or calling for everyone - a chance to serve our brothers and sisters. We truly feel that we should take care of each other - and extend our help and service all over the world as far as we are able. I feel that I am constantly learning - growing - and that is exciting especially at the age of 81.

How I live my faith

I have served in many positons throughout my life. But right now I teach early morning seminary. The youth of the Church have a special place in my heart. I go to the Church at 6:30 every morning to prepare for my students. They come at 7:00 a.m. We have class or fifty minutes. This year I only have 5 students but they are just important as a big class.  We teach from the scriptures - The Old Testament - The New Testament - the Book of Mormon - and the Doctrine & Covenants. I also volunteer one day a week at a little second hand store in our town that uses the money we make to help with Health concerns of the community.
