Hi I'm Jamie

I am an actress, vocal coach, sewing and designing enthusiast, a former teacher, a wife, and a mother of two. I'm also a Mormon.

About Me

I love being creative. I sing, act, paint, sew, design, choreograph, play piano, write music and stories, and I have a love/hate relationship with cooking. I'm a wife and a mother of two. I graduated from a California college with a BFA in theater, and I love watching a good live performance. I was a public school theater teacher for two years right after I graduated, and I have been teaching voice lessons for a third of my life. I love teaching! Being a stay-at-home mom is challenging for me, but I think teaching and spending time with my little ones is amazingly rewarding.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into a Mormon family, so it may seem an obvious choice to keep being Mormon. My parents were happy and loving and nurturing, but it wasn't always easy to follow the teachings of the church. We lived in a town in California where there weren't many Mormons. I was verbally attacked many times for my religion. Some friends didn't understand the way I lived my life, and they treated my convictions lightly. I was surrounded by people who didn't share my views and it made me think about why I believed the things I believed. But I knew that following the principles of my religion made me happy. I knew that the way I was trying to live my life kept me honest and out of trouble. I also knew that I felt more than just "good" at church, I felt inspired to be a better person, and I felt edified. I felt close to God, and I still do. I have made mistakes in the past, and I continue to make mistakes; but I know I can and will be forgiven for those mistakes because of Jesus Christ. And because I love my Savior I try not to deviate from his example. I continue to go to church because it makes sense to my brain and my heart. I enjoy being a Mormon.

How I live my faith

I have been teaching children since I was nineteen years old, and I have been singing since I was two. Currently I think I have the best job in the church, which is to teach and lead music for all the kids in our congregation; ages three to eleven. It is very fulfilling, and quite fun!
