Hi I'm Jacob Snyder

I grew up in Olympia. Played baseball at Clark College. Decided to serve the Lord over playing professionally. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in Olympia, Washington and graduated here from Black Hills High School. I have a wonderful girlfriend who supports me as well as my family. I love them with all my heart. Before my senior year of baseball started, I signed a 65% scholarship to play for Clark College in Vancouver, Washington. I graduated and moved down to Vancouver for the year. During this time, I fell away from the church. I made bad decisions and my habits changed from good to bad. I had grown up my whole life in the church and particapated in all the events they offered youth, but not on my own free will, my parents were constantly providing opportunities. I chose friends who didn't bring me closer to the Lord and soon I became like them. I was completely gone from anything spiritual. As I attended school and played baseball, I watched guys who were 24-25 still living at home with their parents have children, show up to practice high or drunk, and make terrible life decisions. I realized this was the path I was heading down and basically accepted that. But every time I came home I felt something missing until one day my coach caught word of me being LDS and began questioning me about my thoughts of a mission. Professional Scouts offered me the opportunity to be drafted to play Major League Baseball and I asked them about a mission and all of them said to serve. So I'm hanging up my cleats and uniform and putting on a new one for 2 years.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up my whole life being LDS thanks to my parents, but I never gained a testimony of it on my own. I never really put what I had learned to the test and had never got down on my knees and asked Heavenly Father if it was true. Many of my friends questioned my religion as many of them attended the same Christian Youth Group. It wasn't until I truly started taking action on what I'd learned and putting faith in it. My eyes began to be open to the truthfullness of it all, and I know my Heavenly Father lives and has guided me in my life.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by doing the simple things in my life, the daily habits of scripture study and saying my prayers. I attend church with my family weekly and celebrate being able to spend time with them. I enjoyed the opportunity to help convert my girlfriend and my best friend to the Church, and share with them lessons and my testimony often.
