Hi I'm Leona

I'm currently living in the Seattle area teaching English to immigrants. I raised a family of 6 in California. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I've been an elementary art and music teacher (Orff Schulwerk), taught a 2nd/3rd grade at a private school, and taught a gifted class in two charter schools. I have also taught ESL and art history courses for a community college, and I graduated with a degree in art history with a 2nd major in history. I love music and art! I have traveled extensively in Europe and served a church mission in Munich, Germany. I have six children and eleven grandchildren. I feel very blessed with love and gratitude for them. While raising my children, I became involved in an arts-in-education program where I did storytelling, art, and literature programs in public classrooms. I have told stories for community groups and storytelling festivals. One of my specialties is Irish culture and stories.

Why I am a Mormon

I love the Gospel of Jesus Christ. When we strive to obey its principles we come to love Him, and thereby fulfill the first great commandment. Then it becomes easier to live the second great commandment, and love our fellowbeings. I know that I am the spirit daughter of the Great God in Heaven, one generation removed from a magnificent Father, from whom I have received an eternal potential. Jesus Christ is His Only Begotten Son, who performed the great Atoning Sacrifice for all mankind, that we may all have second chances to learn and grow and become like Him. I love and worship Him. He has answered my prayers many times and has even responded to the desires of my heart, I pray with all the energy of my heart that I will be able to one day give an accounting of my life without regret. I look forward to the day when I may express my love to Him personally and meet my Heavenly Father and Mother and be the mother of my own eternal family. The Gospel of Jesus Christ is our Father's plan for His childrens' happiness.

How I live my faith

I have been very blessed in my life to have opportunities to grow through service in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day-Saints. I have been a teacher in the childrens' organiztion, the young adult organization, the womens' organization, a den mother, an early-morning high school seminary teacher. I have worked on many humanitarian projects, such as crocheting snow caps, assembling hygiene kits, school kits, contributing books, making quilts and afghans to be sent to needy people. I have travelled in southern Germany as an emissary of Jesus Christ to share the beauty of the "plain and precious" ttruths of His teachings. I feel that being His representative is the greatest honor a person can have on this earth!
