Hi I'm Janee

I grew up in Colorado. I served a mission for my church in Italy. I am a mother of four amazing children, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a wife and mother of four children. My family is my pride and joy. However, sometimes I need time to myself. I was having difficulty finding satisfaction in the mundane, day to day activities that make up my life as a stay at home mom, so at the end of 2010 I decided I would run a marathon even though I have never participated in any kind of sport. I just completed my first half marathon with my husband running by my side, and I am working towards running the full. It is amazing to achieve goals that I never believed were possible. I love being around and working with the youth of the church. They have amazing strength and understanding of today's world and they teach me so much. They are truly inspiring. I also love spending time with my family and friends while gathering around the table enjoying good food and laughing together.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up in the church and always felt peace in choosing the right and living the way I was taught to live. I read the Book of Mormon when I was in high school and felt the confirmation that it was true. I read it again in college and found a renewed sense that I was on the right path and that this was the path that would lead me to true happiness. I believe the teachings of the Church not only give me a sense of direction, but help me find peace in a world with so much strife. The Plan of Salvation teaches me about the plan that my Heavenly Father has for me. Through different experiences, I have come to understand and believe that when I have the faith to listen and follow what my Heavenly Father wants me to do, my life is blessed with so much more than I ever had planned for myself. This blesses me with a sense of peace and security knowing that there is a plan for me. I know who I am. I know my purpose here. I know the direction I need to go to return to my Heavenly Father again. These teachings and experiences have helped me tremendously in raising a family. I am confidant in what I need to teach my children in order for our family to be strong and united. I know where I can go for help in raising my children to become amazing citizens who understand their purpose and strive to follow Christ. The gospel brings peace in all aspects of my life; whether it is working through my trials, raising children, being a wife, finding my own self-worth, or becoming a better person. I am Mormon because the gospel brings me peace.

How I live my faith

I try to live my faith everyday by using my knowledge and beliefs in raising my family. This includes attending church every Sunday, having family prayer and scripture study daily, taking one night out of the week to spend time as a family, and many more things. I am always striving to be a better wife so there is more harmony between my husband and I, which, in turn brings unity to our whole family. I try to be the best I can knowing that I am pleasing the Lord. I am happiest when I am trying to be more like Christ. It is so easy to stay focused on what is going on in my life and not look outside the box. I am striving to serve others more and worry about me less. My trials seem to diminish as I serve. I put one foot in front of the other everyday working on becoming a better person. Sometimes I fail, and other times I succeed. There is great satisfaction in seeing growth whether it is spiritually, physically, as a mother, wife or as a woman trying to be more like Christ. I live my faith by trying to do what my Heavenly Father has asked me to do.
