Hi I'm Jan

I'm a Canadian girl, now living in Arizona. Raising a family and loving life. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a mother of 2 wonderful children (ages 5 and 3). My husband and I have been married for 8 years. I also have 3 amazing step children ages 17, 14, and 12 that have lived with us in the past but are currently living with their mother. I'm homemaker but try to be involved in my community and school by volunteering and joining interest groups. I have a masters degree in recreation management and while I don't use my degree to further a professional career, I feel like it's a huge part of me and I use my education daily. I love to read and one day would love to write a book but I realize my writing skills aren't amazing so that might be a distant dream. I also love to paper craft (card making, scrapbooking etc). Another part of my life is exercise. When I was younger I played team sports (now I just cheer them on tv) but now I mostly run and mountain bike. Last year I completed my first triathlon and would love do some more. I love, love, love to travel and enjoy different cultures but nothing beats reading a book on a white sandy beach! I dream of being a gardener and canning all sorts of things...maybe one day. I enjoying cooking but I especially love to bake.

Why I am a Mormon

I was raised a mormon and always felt good when I thought about my religious beliefs. There was never one experience or moment I came to believe in the doctrines of the gospel. It was small little things throughout my life that have combined to build a personal testimony. I have a deep faith that living the gospel brings many blessings and a wonderful peace to my life. I feel as though the teaching of the gospel make me a better person everyday. I love the peace that comes from my beliefs; I love that my beliefs help me through my challenges and struggles. I know that Jesus Christ loves me.

How I live my faith

I live my faith everyday by trying to teach my kids to be a good person and by being a good example. I also attend church every week to worship for myself. During the Sunday School portion of church I work with the little children (ages 18 months - 3 years) and teach them gospel principles through song, play, and games. I also work with the cub scouts by organizing their budgets. I am happy to help in anyway and have done other volunteer work at church such as planning activities, organizing the children programs, and teaching gospel lessons to others. I also love to attend mormon temples where I can learn more of God's plan for me and all mankind.
