Hi I'm Christina

I am a wife, mother, educator and counselor. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I enjoy singing, theater, scrapbooking, card making, and spending time with my husband. I am an educator and counselor at a community college. I have a doctorate in education and love to learn. I listen to christian music. I am the mother of a grown son who is in college.

Why I am a Mormon

I spent my life attending churches of different denominations. As time progressed I started wondering how God could have so many different rules assigned to the various churches. This caused me to lose belief in God, because I thought how could the God in the bible cause so much confusion in the world. I purchased a home in a lovely community and one day a pest control salesman and his wife came to my door to offer me a deal in pest control. As we were talking, I decided to ask the man how he liked his job. I asked this question because the night before I humbled myself and knelt in prayer with a contrite spirit, broken because I had just purchased a home in a great community but hated my job as a loan processor because I had to call people to ask them if they wanted to refinance. In other words, I was a telemarketer, selling loans over the phone, selling loans at rates I didn't feel were appropriate. I wondered how much longer I could handle the job and inquired as to how I was to proceed along my path in life. So when I asked the pest control salesman how he liked his job, I was asking because I was in sales and was miserable. When he responded, I knew it was an answer to my prayer. He said, "It's what the Lord provided". I knew at that moment that I didn't have to worry about the job because the Lord would provide a way for me. This answer opened the doors to talk about religion. The couple indicated they were mormon and asked me if I had any questions. So I asked, "Are you allowed to have more than one wife?". They giggled and said "no, but we are asked that often." They invited me to church with them the next day. I attended church and received missionary discussions. I felt the spirit so strongly and was baptized within one month. Within two years I married a wonderful mormon man. My husband had served a mission in Canada and I hope that we can serve a mission as a couple later in our lives.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by serving others. I have three callings for my church: assistant librarian, cub scout den leader, and family services representative. In addition to the service I give for my church I am also active in the community. I am a faculty advisor for the LDS Student Association, which is a club at the local community college. I am also in my third year as a mentor for students in the Puente program. The Puente program is known as a student success program in community colleges. I have a technician class ham radio license and volunteer for Cal Fire and Amateur Radio Emergency Services. In this capacity, I help out at various events, providing communications as needed. As a teacher, I enjoy serving my students by helping them to develop the knowledge, skills, and abilities they need to succeed in life.
