Hi I'm Mark

I'm married and a father of three children. I have been in practice as a clinical social worker for 11 years. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I was born and raised in Idaho, but found my way to the midwest after marrying a woman from Illinois. I completed a Masters in Social Work from Indiana University and worked as a child and adolescent therapist for several years before moving to Austin, Texas. Our family is in love with the Austin area. My wife (Jenny) and I have been married for 17 years and we have 3 kids. I currently provide counseling at a private practice where my area of expertise has expanded to cover more issues related to adults and couples. When Texas is not in a drought/heatwave, I try to find any excuse to se off fireworks to celebrate special occasions. Fireworks are my guilty pleasure. I am also active in playing paintball and woodworking.

Why I am a Mormon

I am blessed to have come from a long line of Latter-Day Saint pioneers. From the faith and example of these great people, I have seen how the gospel of Jesus Christ has allowed my ancestors to become the types of people I would like to pattern my life after. As a psychotherapist, I have firsthand knowledge of how living gospel principles and following the guidance of a living prophet can bless the lives of individuals and families. As for myself, at age 11, I earnestly sought a spiritual confirmation of the atonement of Christ, the scriptures , and a testimony of the restored gospel. With some effort, I received that confirmation and have been driven to walk the path that Christ would have me follow.

How I live my faith

I currently serve as an early morning seminary teacher for the youth in my congregation. They meet at the church at 6:20am every school day to participate in religious instruction during all 4 years of high school. This year we are studying the Old Testament. I am blessed to be the one who gets to teach the lesson each day.
