Hi I'm Monique Marissa

I'm currently studying Nursing at BYU-Provo. I hope to serve a full-time mission this summer. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

My name is Monique and I'm a native to Colorado. I am very passionate about leadership, education, and humanitarian work. I was highly involved in Student Government in high school. I believe every person should get a quality education and I'm currently going to college for Nursing. I hope to become a midwife and use my skills in Somalia to train and educate the women on safer birthing practices. I am planning on serving a full-time mission this summer and am so excited to serve God's children.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up Christian but never really went to church regularly. After losing my grandmother I realized that I wanted to have more of a relationship with God and I wanted it to be more than just going to church on Easter and Christmas Eve. I investigated many churches but it wasn't until I sat down with the LDS missionaries that I realized that there is only one true church on this Earth. I know this Church is true because of the difference it has made in mine and my family's lives, I know I will see my grandmother again, I know my Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ love me, and because of that knowledge I chose to be baptized and receive the Holy Ghost in October of 2010. I am a Mormon because my Heavenly Father knew I needed guidance in my life. I am a Mormon because God sent missionaries to my door in a time of need. I am a Mormon because I prayed to God and was shown by the Holy Spirit that this church is true. I am a Mormon because I chose to put God first and to partake of the Atoning sacrifice made by our Savior, Jesus Christ. Being a Later-Day Saint has brought nothing but joy into my life and I am so grateful for the gospel and the Spirit that guides me everyday.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by being involved in the gospel as much as I can. I love teaching, sharing, and serving those around me. I love visiting teaching and believe it blesses me just as much is it blesses those I am teaching. I love sharing the gospel and I try to share it as much as I can within my community. I love to serve my community most. In high school I was very involved in service within my school. At BYU I am involved in a club called BYU-unity that tries to help those on campus feel their voices are being heard. Serving those that may feel unheard has given me many opportunities to feel God's love and better understand principles within the scriptures.

What are some things that tell you there is a God?

Monique Marissa

Everyday around the world miracles happen some small and some big, everyday prayers are answered, and everyday tears are comforted. God has a hand in EVERYONE's lives EVERYDAY. It is in realizing God's hand in your own life that you can know there is a God. Show more Show less
