Hi I'm Vickie

I'm a wife and mother of five. I like to sing. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

As a mother of five kids I keep pretty busy just chasing them around. In addition to the normal parts of being a mom (cooking, cleaning, laundry) I also like to go hiking and camping with my family - although I am not a fan of all the work it takes to get the whole family out the door. I ran the hurdles in high school and college, but now I'm lucky to squeeze in a work-out video in the morning to stay active. I like to sing and play the piano. I enjoy scrapbooking, but have recently taken to blogging as a way to document what's happening with my family. I love writing down the funny things my kids say and recording their life as it happens. My husband and I like to watch movies together and enjoy going to choral concerts.

Why I am a Mormon

Music is a powerful tool. My first inklings of faith in the restored gospel were the feelings I had in response to the powerful messages and spirit in the songs I heard at church. I had been taught the gospel all my life, but it was through music that the spirit confirmed these truths to me. Now I look at the rich and full life I have as a result of following the teachings of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and I realize it is the best way to be happy. There is so much pain and disappointment that can be avoided by holding fast to correct principles. I believe Jesus Christ is my Savior, and my testimony of Him grows stronger as I learn to rely on Him and serve in His gospel.

How I live my faith

Teaching my children and passing on the legacy of faith that they have inherited is something I do on a daily basis. I want them to know of God's love for them and to understand that He has a plan for them to be happy. I teach them the songs of the restoration so that they will remember how much Heavenly Father loves them. And I try to help them learn to make good choices. We pray together and read the scriptures on a regular basis.
