Hi I'm Jill

I grew up in the Vienna, Virginia. I am working to become a teacher! I attended school at BYU-Idaho and loved it! I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Hi I'm Jill! I am one of five girls! That's right no brothers just sisters :) Sisters are the best even though I wish I had some brothers too. I grew up about thirty minutes outside of Washington D.C. and I loved it! My family moved to Arizona right after I attended my first year of college. We are still east coasters at heart! I have a lot of east coast pride. I just graduated from BYU-Idaho. I got my degree in early childhood/special education. I have one more course to complete before I get my teaching license and I couldn't be more excited to finally have my own classroom! I have wanted to be a teacher my whole life and love working with children. Some of my other hobbies include running, playing basketball, hanging out with family and friends and meeting new people. I love to run. I completed my first marathon last year. It was a fun accomplishment but I don't know if I'll ever do a marathon again! I love to hang out with my family and friends. They are my life! My life would be so incomplete without my family. One of my sisters is having her first baby and I couldn't be more thrilled! That is just a little bit about me :)

Why I am a Mormon

I was raised in the church which I'm SO grateful for. Both sides of my family are LDS and it has been such a blessing in my life. The church makes me happy. I have felt that the church is true in my heart and I KNOW it's true. I have had so many people ask me why I do the things I do and why am I happy and smiling all the time and it's honestly because I have the church in my life. It has shaped me into the person that I am and the person that I want to be. There are so many things about the church that I love, but one of the main things is it's emphasis on families. I love my family so much and one of the things that we believe is that we can be with our families forever even after this life. That is something that is so important, comforting and true to me. Another thing that we believe is that Jesus Christ is our Savior. We would not be able to make it back to God our heavenly father without Christ and his sacrifice for us, so that we could be forgiven of our sins. Another thing that I believe and I love about the church is the power of prayer. We believe that you can pray to Heavenly Father (God) at any time and that he will help us and you! He is so aware of us his children and wants us to go to him for help. He has given me direction in my life and is always here for me and I have felt that so much in my life. I know the book of Mormon is true. I have felt the power of scriptures in my life and as I read them. They are like a road map in my life constantly teach me new things and helping me better my life. Those are just a few examples of why I'm a mormon!

How I live my faith

I know I am not perfect, but I am constantly trying to be better and work on areas that I need improvement and be an example to others. No one is perfect, but that is where faith comes in :) I have participated in the church in many different ways. One of my favorites was teaching in relief society which is a class during the third hour of church that is just for the women. I have always had a passion to teach and while I was in college I was priviledged to have the opportunity to teach girls around my same age about things of the church. Some of things we talked about were things like faith, or how to get through trials, or the power prayer. The girls in my group were the ones that made the lessons turn out so well because of their comments. I always tried to get the girls to talk about their experiences instead of just having me talk the whole time. I learned so much from that opportunity and it was a great growing experience for me to have the chance to teach those amazing girls and for them to teach me! The church has so many ways that you can serve. No one is ever forced to do anything in the church, but by accepting positions in the church whether they be big or small always helps you grow so much because you end up learning new things about yourself and about those you associate with. It has truly been a blessing in my life :)
