Hi I'm Lisa

I am a wife, mom, daughter, sister, friend and athlete. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I love my family and am so grateful for the blessings of being a wife and mom. I love playing volleyball, basketball, running and camping. I love watching my kids grow and play in sports as well. I love being creative and using my hands. Right now, I use that creativity to build and refinish furniture. I have a goal to learn to reupholster and I think powertools are great! (Luckily my husband doesn't mind sharing!) Life is a series of challenges, temptations and blessings, in which the gospel helps me to keep focus.

Why I am a Mormon

I have great parents who love and live the gospel of Jesus Christ. I grew up watching them read their scriptures, serve others and choose to follow the commandments, expecially when life was hard. I was baptized when I was eight, but as I grew my parents watched and guided and challenged me to study and gain a testimony for myself. We grew close as a family and kept the gospel as the center of our lives (which was sometimes a challenge as I was one of seven children.) As you can imagine, life is hectic with that many children and all of their activities! But, we had Family Home Evenings, I had one on one time with my dad and we had some great talks, and I watched my mom fulfill her callings and work tirelessly to serve each of us (as well as others) endlessly. My dad taught me to always keep a prayer in my heart. As a teenager, I took his advice and I did. I tried to always have an open heart and to invite conversation with Heavenly Father and to try to listen and recognize when He was communicating with me. I have prayed and I know that my Heavenly Father is there and that He loves me. I know He is aware of my challenges and that He knows what is good for me and will guide me if I will just listen. I have read the Book of Mormon and I know it is true and I am thankful for the responsibility to share it with my children and challenge them to find their own testimonies. This life is a challenge. It's how we grow. I am so thankful to be able to read about others who have gone through challenges and have risen above them. I am thankful for our Savior and for his sacrifice so that I can repent and become more like him.

How I live my faith

I serve in the Stake Primary and work with the leaders of the 8 to 14 year old girls. We make sure the primary programs are running smoothly in each ward (there are 7 wards and 2 branches in our stake.) We visit with the leaders and pray and seek guidance to find out how we can help them. Our job in the primary is to help the children feel Heavenly Father's love, grow testimonies of the Savior, learn to feel and recognize the influence of the Holy Ghost. I am also a visiting teacher. My companion and I have 4 women that we visit monthly. We share a gospel message from the Ensign (a monthly magazine from the church) and serve them whenever there is a need (or just because we love them!) It's fun and I love getting to know the sisters better through this calling.
