Hi I'm David

I am a husband, a father of 7 children, 6 still here on earth. I am a CPA and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Although born in California, I was raised in Arizona and both my parents are native Arizonan's so I consider myself an Arizonian. I am an Arizona State University graduate (Go Sun Devils!!) a certified public accountant, and partner in a local firm. I am a husband, trying hard to be a good spouse for my bride. Although not the best, I enjoy cooking and like trying out new recipes. I am a father of 7 children still raising six here on earth. I enjoy working in my yard with my children, however, everytime I try to plant a garden, I seem to have a real brown thumb! I am a Volkswagen enthusiast and enjoy working on my 1974 super beetle (it is amazing how frequently rubber pieces dry out here in the desert)!

Why I am a Mormon

Although I was born of goodly parents that were already members of the church and raised as a Mormon, I would like to share an experience that I hold precious and dear to me. Being a somewhat normal teenager, I loved my parents, but, I questioned not only their "wisdom" but also my belief system. I earnestly read daily from The Book of Mormon and prayed with sincerity to have a witness from my Heavenly Father that the Book of Mormon was indeed a volume of scripture. I must say that I struggled for a long time to get an answer from the Lord. Ultimately, my answer cam not from my prayer but from someone that was investigating the church. She was diligently reading the Book of Mormon and also wanted know if the Church was true. One evening, we knelt down and each of us took a turn praying and asking Heavenly Father if the Church was true. I felt a MASSIVE outpouring of the Spirit knew based on that witness I knew that the Book of Mormon was scripture, that Joseph Smith was a prophet of God and that he saw the things he said he saw and that the church was true. Looking back, I suppose that I already had a testimony slowly accumulated over a whole lifetime of growing up in the church and that my desire to have something stronger and more tangible was probably a little selfish. I also suppose that in comparison my friend that was investigating the Church and desiring a witness was more humble and sincere, but I am glad all the same that in time after a trial of my patience and my faith that the Lord answered my prayer and revealed to me that His church had indeed been restored here to earth.

How I live my faith

For me,  living my faith is more about the things that I do and not about the things I don't do. As a family, we try to have daily family scripture and prayer and weekly family home evening (not perfect but we are pretty consistent). Church on Sunday, going to visit others in our congregation in their home on a monthly basis and overall working to do good. Personally trying to improve at reading my scriptures, saying my prayers and being closer to my Savior. At home, I try to spend quality time with my kids and make sure that I do my best to set a good example for them, to make choices and set an environment that they can flourish in spiritually. In business, I strive to treat my employees, clients and associates fair with honesty, integrity and professionalism.
