Hi I'm Sophia

I'm a wife, mother of 5, piano teacher, composer, bank associate, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

As a busy, working wife and mother I enjoy spending time with my family and seeing my children progress. I like being outdoors and spending time with my family, so we camp, hunt and fish whenever we can get away. I love to watch my children's sporting events too, especially football. Each family member plays at least 1 musical instrument and sings, so we have a lot of fun jamming out together. Though it nearly scared me to death I went back to school a few years ago and got as far as an associates degree in vocal performance. And now I'm working to help pay the never-ending bills:)

Why I am a Mormon

I was born and raised a Mormon, but I've always found it interesting that some people believe I'm still a Mormon for no other reason than that's how I was raised. The truth is, as a young adult I sincerely struggled and searched for what it is I really believe. I prayed and studied--not just my own religion but others as well--and came to know for myself that The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is truly what it claims to be: The restored church of Jesus Christ himself, which He leads today. I know it! The gospel brings me peace that I can't find anywhere else. Prayer is a necessity and a wonderful way to communicate with my Heavenly Father and for Him to communicate with me. And when questions arise in my mind today about church doctrines, I don't have to take anyone's word for things. I study and pray for answers. I am not a blind follower but a genuine seeker of truth, and I know what I know. Do you?

How I live my faith

I was asked to teach a class of 7-turning-8 year old children who are preparing for baptism. I learn so much from them! They are truly precious! I also get to help plan events for churchmembers in our area like the talent shows we've done the past few years. It's a challenge getting organized, but it always comes together and turns out to be a lot of fun. I am responsible for checking on 3 specific churchmember ladies every month to make sure that they have what they need temporally, spiritually, and mentally. In doing so I help make sure that everyone in the church is looked after. Though I don't always succeed, I genuinely try to be a Christian and live as the Savior did. I'm definitely far from perfect, but I'll keep trying!
