Hi I'm Brian

I was in the U.S. Air Force for 9 years, I am a Professor at a Christian University, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm pretty much your normal American, born and raised in the Midwest, served in the military straight out of high school, earned a Bachelors degree while still serving, got out and got an M.B.A. and an M.D., and now I live a modest life with a totally awesome wife and the 4 best children ever. I have to admit that my life isn't anything like I would have thought it would turn out to be. It's much better! Not because of money or power, but because I know that real joy comes from spending time with those I love. Plus, my family are my best friends!

Why I am a Mormon

I wasn't always a Mormon. I grew up, in fact, in a family of 7 kids and our parents took us to several Christian churches on a regular basis. I was in many youth programs, including Awanas, went to short camps, and most of my mom's side of the family are in the ministry in one capacity or another. I always believed in Jesus but i wasn't that impressed with church during my later teen years. But now I'm a Mormon for one simple reason. I know that The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints is, literally, THE Church of Jesus Christ. I will never forget when I knew it for sure. I was 23 years old and dating a Mormon girl. She asked me to read The Book of Mormon so I did. She gave me some advice. She said that I should go straight to God in prayer and ask Him. Nobody else around, no one to criticize me, and that I should just find out one way or the other. So I did. I just needed to know. I remember telling God that if I was wrong my whole life then that's okay. But I genuinely wanted to know. Well, there I was, 1am in the morning, on my knees in my bedroom, and I knew! I knew that The Book of Mormon was exactly what it claimed to be and I knew that I knew that from the beginning of time. What I felt I can only describe as pure intelligence. I remember that time was

How I live my faith

I have served in many different capacities in the church over the years but my times working with the youth has been the main calling and how I am currently serving. The Boy Scouts of America is integrated into our youth program and I have led many scouts over the last 20+ years. The scouting program is inspired. I truly believe that. I have seen boys -and men, come closer to God through the miracle and majesty of nature.
