Hi I'm Scott

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in DesMoines Washington. After graduating from high school, I served a two year mission in Italy. I later met and married my wife of thirty years, Julie. We have five children and one grand-child. I went through college and eventually obtained my law degree. I am an attorney, and when not at work, enjoy golf, watersports, cooking, reading and generally just being with my friends and family.

Why I am a Mormon

Though I was born in the faith, during my youth, in deciding whether to serve a mission for the church, I had to know for myself that it was the Lord's true church. All the doctrines made sense are logical and are supported by scripture. My conviction came in answer to prayer and fasting. I just knew it was true throughout my whole being. I still do, as everything I have learned since then only serves to strenghten my own conviction of its truth. If I were anything but a Mormon (Member of the Church of Jesus Crist of Latter Day Saints), I'd be living a lie.

How I live my faith

Our faith teaches us "men are that he might have joy" or in other words to be happy. Though I am far from perfect, I strive to achieve this by living the teachings of Christ. I do this by serving others, both in church callings (members of the Mormon or LDS church do not get paid to serve in varioius capacities, it is all done on a volunteer basis) and in the community, usually averaging 5 - 6 hours per week in various service activities. I find happiness in serving others. I also try to be a good example to my children by living christian principles and teaching them by word and example what appropriate behavior is and is not (i.e. what behavior will lead to happiness and what will lead to misery). I achieve happiness through developing strong relationships with my family members and friends. In general I try to put into practice the teachings of Christ and be a good solid member of my community.

Are Mormons Christians?

Absolutely! Mormon is just a nick name for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. The name itself makes that clear. Jesus Christ is the Center of our faith and is the head of our Church. He still guides his church today through a living prophet and apostles. Our religion is based on the teachings and doctrines of Jesus Christ as found in the Bible. In addition to the Bible, we have three other books of scripture that testify of the divinity of Jesus Christ, namely the Book of Mormon, Pearl of Great Price and Doctrine and Covenants. All of these scriptures testify of the divinity of our Savior Jesus Christ. We believe Jesus Christ is our savior and redeemer. We worship in the name of Jesus Christ. I don't know how much more Christian a Church can be. Show more Show less
