Hi I'm Ashley

I grew up in South Carolina. I'm a Nursing student. I love being a mormon!

About Me

I grew up in South Carolina. I've been a member all of my life. I love to read. I enjoy the outdoors. I like hiking and camping. I'm currently majoring in Nursing, and loving every minute of it.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up in the church. I've always known that the church was true, and i've always had a testimony of the gospel. However, my true conversion wasn't until I was 16. I grew up in a ward that was very close-knit and I knew everyone in it. Our Young Women's group was very large, and I loved every minute of it. Then one sunday, the stake called a meeting to re-draw the boundaries. All of my friends ended up in a different ward, and my cousin and I were the only active young women left. I was devastated. But then I realized that it wasn't the church with the problem, it was me. I started reading the scriptures, attending all of my meetings, and reaching out to the inactive girls in my ward. Now, two years later, I have left a young women's group of 8 active girls. If I hadn't had to learn to rely on myself, then my testimony would never have grown as strong as it is now.

How I live my faith

I used to work with the young women. I was in charge of girls, ages 16 to 18. This was one of the best experiences of my life. I was able to get close to both active, inactive, and nonmember girls in my ward boundaries. It was my job to make sure that they were looked after, and to invite them to join us for activities and even some sunday meetings. Now I am working with the Sunbeams, which is the children, ages 2 to 3. I teach them lessons of the gospel every sunday. It is my responsibility to teach them the basic lessons of the gospel, so that they can one day form their own testimony.

What are some things that tell you there is a God?

There are many ways to recognize that there is a God. Go out in nature, and look around you. Even the tinniest leaf is so complex, and so amazing that there is no way that it could just happen, or "evolve" on it's own. This alone is proof of a higher power. However, to truly know for yourself that you have a Father in Heaven who loves you, get down on your knees and pray to God. Ask him with a sincere heart, if he is there, and if he loves you: then wait and listen. The feeling that you receive, is so warm and so full of overwhelming love that you cannot possibly deny that God lives, and loves you. Show more Show less
