Hi I'm Mikaela

I like hats, and I'm Mormon

About Me

I grew up in Eatonville, Washington State. I have been playing soccer ever since I was 5 years old. I began my first year at UVU in 2014, life happened and now I'm on a mission that I never expected to go on. Currently in love with the East Coast as I'm serving in the Virginia Chesapeake Mission!

Why I am a Mormon

I was born and raised in a very active Mormon family. I grew up learning to love the gospel. Going to church became a habit, but when I was younger it didn't mean much. Now that I am old enough to understand it's teachings, church every Sunday is such a blessing to me. No matter what I'm going through, prayer, scripture study, and attending Sunday meetings can always make me feel some sort of peace. So while I relied on my parents testimony's and their faith in the church for the first few years of my life, I now have a testimony of my own and that's why I continue to stay active in the church.

How I live my faith

I try to read my scriptures every day, pray continually, and attend Church each Sunday. I have gained so much knowledge from doing these things on a regular basis. My Mission President once told me that there are 3 types of conversions: Intellectual, Social, and Spiritual. If you have an intellectual conversion, you believe because the Gospel is logical, but then there is always going to be someone smarter who can persuade you otherwise. If you have a social conversion, then what will happen if you get offended? But, if you have a spiritual conversion then nothing can take that away. It's a life long process to develop such a conversion, but I live my faith by striving for a sturdy spiritual conversion.

Why do Mormon missionaries proselyte?

Why do you share awesome pictures with people on Facebook? Why do you want your best friend to taste the super delicious pizza you just ordered? Why do you like to call your mom and tell her about what happened in your day? When we grow to love something we automatically have a desire to share it with others. If we know the Gospel is true then that means we strive to love ALL of God's children... which is everyone. So, on top of it being a commandment to "Go ye therefore, and teach all nations", we love the Gospel... so we share it! Show more Show less
