Hi I'm James B Curtis

I grew up in central Minnesota. I am an accountant and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a father of three children and grandparent of five. My wife and I met in 1982 and we were married 8 months later in 1983. I am a first generation Mormon and the only member at the present time. My hobbies are fishing, reading, listening to music (especially classical), and RVing. I spent 20 years after graduating from high school to earn my bachelors degree.

Why I am a Mormon

Growing up my mother felt it important that her boys attend church on Sundays, my father did not share this same sentiment. My mother grew up attending the Lutheran Church with her parents and siblings. She did not drive and so we walked to the various churches in our community. I remember one church that we walked to was about two miles from our home. Because of my mothers dedication to attend church, as I grew older I felt that attending church was important. I attended various denominations but left feeling unfilled. About 34 years ago, two young men from the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints knocked on my door. I invited them in to share their message. As I listened I felt something that I had never felt before. The missionaries explained that this was the Holy Ghost testifying to the truth of what they were teaching me. Many questions were asked and answered with clarity that I had never heard before. They even cited scriptures from the bible to enforce what they were saying. These young men, approximately 19-21 years of age, taught me where I came from, why am I here, and where am I going after I die. This was new doctrine for me. I am a Mormon because I believe our Heavenly Father lives and communicates with his children today as he did in ancient times. The heavens have been opened and Heavenly Father has showered his blessings upon his children as we are obedient and faithful. Heavenly Father provided The Plan of Salvation whereby a Savior, Jesus Christ, atoned for our sins, transgressions, and mistakes. Through this plan we have the possibility to return with our families to our Heavenly Father and live with him and his son Jesus Christ throughout eternity.

How I live my faith

I have taught many children in Sunday School. I have been a financial clerk and a leader in a men's organization that had the responsibility of overseeing the temporal and spiritual needs of families in our congregation. I continue to teach members of our congregation in their homes I have tried to emulate what my Savior Jesus Christ taught, to do good to others, love my neighbor, be a good husband, and a good father.
