Hi I'm Debra

I'm a nurse. I'm a convert. I love the Lord. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a mother and grandmother. I have been a nurse for 39 years. I love hiking, camping, cowboy movies, country music and rock and roll, love to dance. I'm married to a wonderful man. I love my calling - primary sunbeam teacher. I love to teach them about our Lord and savior, Jesus Christ. I know I learn more than they do each Sunday. I am raising one of my grandchildren. I've had him since he was 1 1/2 yrs old and he is 14 now. Oh those teenage years!

Why I am a Mormon

About 27 years ago I was introduced to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints (aka Mormons). I was a woman who was raised catholic (but had not been to the catholic church for since high school) looking for a home. I investigated numerous faiths - Mennonite, Baptist, Protestant, Methodist, 7th day Adventist, even Baha'i faith. My friend was Mormon. So, one day I picked up the phone and called the church near my home and left a message: "I want to know more about your church." I got a call back almost immediately. In all the times I went to other churches I always felt out of place. The minute the missionaries entered my door to teach me the first lesson, I knew I had found a home. But due to events that were going on in my life at the time, it was not until 2 years later I was baptized. I was 5 months pregnant with my last child when I was baptized. So when my son was baptized when he was 8, he told everyone this was his 2nd baptism... since he was baptized once while in my belly! So why am I a Mormon??? Because here is where I found truth in the gospel. It made sense to me, eternal families, a prophet on the earth today, a heavenly mother. A church that was designed after the church that Jesus Christ started when he was on the earth.

How I live my faith

Every day I try to remember my Savior, Jesus Christ, pray to my Heavenly father and remember who I am. A child of God. A daughter of the most high. No, I am not perfect. I still make many mistakes while making my way in this life. So, I have learned a lot about REPENTANCE. But I know that is part of why we are here. To find our way back to our Heavenly Father. We have many lessons to learn and sometimes (like myself) we do it the hard way. But through it all, I have learned much. Mainly to love and forgive.... even myself. I try to be a good example of the Savior and his teachings to my family, people I work with and friends and strangers. My favorite day is Sunday. After being "in the world" all week it is good for me and my family to be close to our Savior. I love teaching Sunday School. The children's songs we sing in class are my favorite. They help me wear the armor of the Lord for protection. I hum or sing them while I am driving, during lunch at work.. just about anytime. Sure wish I could sing though. Might sound better to others!!
