Hi I'm Shawna.

I traveled India in search of religion and I chose to be Mormon.

About Me

Professionally, I am a physician assistant, I am fascinated by medicine and love working with people. Romantically, I am single. Socially, I'm a saxophone player, snowboarder, and international traveler.

Why I am a Mormon

I believe that we need a Savior and that Jesus Christ made the ultimate sacrifice in order for us to have eternal life. I have found peace knowing the beliefs of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. In my late teens I began to intently ponder the purpose of life and the role of religion. Many sources I questioned led to dead-ends. When I began speaking with Mormons about their beliefs, they seemed to have an answer for everything - what is the purpose of life? what happens to us after this life? I prayed to know that what they were saying was the truth, I didn't see a vision or hear a voice in response, but I did feel a sweet sense of peace and assurance. I have been a member of this church since 2007. I am the only Mormon in my family. I have no doubt that our prophet is led by divine inspiration. I have no doubt that the sacrifices that I make to be Mormon are well worth it. I have no doubt that what I believe, what Mormons believe, is true.

How I live my faith

I attend church on Sunday and regard the Sabbath as a holy day. For my assigned church calling I plan group trips to the nearby temple. The Mormon Temples are the House of the Lord, they are sacred places built for the purposes of worship, learning, and service. I am also a visiting teacher to two women, which means that I have been asked to befriend them, visit them on at least a monthly basis, and be there to help them with anything I can - through the visiting teacher program we are able to make sure that every member is cared for, Heavenly Father cares for each of his children individually.
