Hi I'm Lydia

I'm a cosmetologist and a community college graduate. I'm also a missionary for the Church and I'm a mormon.

About Me

I'm a full time missionary for the Church. I enjoy being creative, doing arts and crafts and learning new things. I love music and singing and believe that clean, uplifting music can help change bad habits and moods. I'm the third child in a family of six kids and enjoy spending time with my family. I absolutely love traveling and learning about other cultures and I want to travel and see the whole world..or as much of it as possible. I was raised learning Spanish and English and am currently learning French to take the Gospel to the people of France. I want to learn how to play the piano and how to write my own music. I like making up my own recipes when I cook because it makes things interesting. I love life and all the opportunities it brings to learn and grow and teach.

Why I am a Mormon

I decide everyday to be a follower of Jesus Christ because I love Him. I love His gospel that teaches me how to live my life so that I can be happy and help others. I'm so very grateful for the Atonement of Jesus Christ because it allows me to fix mistakes I make and come closer to Him so that I can become a better person. I know that Jesus Christ is my Savior and the Savior of the world and that He loves me and every person. Knowing this makes me want to do good and help everyone around me. I know God is real and lives! We are all His children and are under His watchful care. He loves all of us, imperfect as we are. That's why I'm a Mormon - I love God and my Savior Jesus Christ and feel the love they have for me and all the human race.

How I live my faith

I live the gospel of Jesus Christ as best I can by practicing what I learn so that it becomes a good habit. I try to do as Christ would do. I try to love and serve others as He would want me to. I try to be an example of Christ and testify that true happiness comes from Him. I live my faith by diligently striving to learn more about the gospel of Jesus Christ, practicing what I learn and then inviting others to learn what I have learned.

What are Mormon women like? Do Mormons believe in equality of men and women?

Mormon women like to be active in the church and they hold responsibilities and leadership positions just as much as men do. We all have different personalities and interests and hobbies just like any other women in the world. We do believe in equality between men and women. I think confusion arises over the issue of the Priesthood, which is the Power and Authority to act in God's name here on earth and was given by God to the Prophet on down. Any worthy male is able to hold this Priesthood and act in God's name, but he must be directed by God to use it. Where do the women come in? We believe that God intended for man and woman to be in full equality and partnership - each has different responsibilities and fulfills them differently but in working together, they accomplish much. Just like in a well orchestrated musical piece, we can't all be the same note, otherwise we would never create a melody or harmony. Women are naturally endowed to love and nurture with kindness. It isn't perfect in any women but it is a God-given gift that He expects us to cultivate. By loving and serving our families, and the men loving and serving by way of the Priesthood, the whole family is taken care of and everyone's needs can be met if acted upon the teachings of Jesus Christ. What do Mormons believe about Jesus Christ? Do Mormons believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God?

I believe that Jesus Christ is the Only Begotten Son of our Heavenly Father. I believe that He is the light and truth of the world. His gospel teaches us what we must do to return to our Heavenly Father and He himself has given the example of how we must do it. Since we are human and make mistakes, we would not be able to return to live with God, our Heavenly Father because we would be imperfect and unclean and not able to dwell in His presence. Jesus Christ, through the Atonement He provided for us which consists of His suffering in the Garden of Gethsemane, dying on the cross and resurrecting from death made the path clear and possible for us to repent and become clean again to enter into the presence of God. Not only does the Atonement of Jesus Christ allow us to repent and become clean again, it also gives us the strength and courage to overcome temptation, trials, sin, and our own human shortcomings. He also heals us from the sorrows that we experience here on earth that are out of our control, like lonliness or the loss of a loved one. Jesus Christ is the Savior of the world because He is provided the way for us to live again with God even after we die here on the Earth. Show more Show less
