Hi I'm Emily

and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am extremely passionate to the arts. I love music; singing and playing the piano are what i fill most of my time with, and composing my own music is my favorite thing to do. Nothing else makes me as happy as when i'm making music. :) I'm a great cook and often make my family's meals. I love painting and drawing and playing sports with my brothers. I've been in a few musical productions and participate in my schools Concert Choir.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into this faith like many, and was told ever since I can remember, that the church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints was the True Church. However, I didn't have a knowledge myself of what they so happily claimed. Many said they knew the church was true, but how could they? I struggled for a while in my early teen years and wrestled with my testimony of the church. After about a year of particularly difficult trials and confusion, I decided I was going to find out for myself, so I prayed hard. I remember only a handful of times I have prayed with that intensity. I prayed to know if this church, the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, was indeed his church. I prayed and didn't receive a direct answer then and was confused as to why I hadn't, and became a bit grumpy with my Heavenly Father. It wasn’t until later that I received my answer. Some have incredible and elaborate personal, treasured accounts of how they came to know the truth, or how a verse struck their very core and they all the sudden knew for a fact. Mine isn't like that. I treasure it still above all else but it is simple, it wasn't a lightning strike or a heavenly messenger. I was in my room, reading my scriptures and as I read and pondered the words on the pages, a quiet thought entered my mind; "you know it’s true, you've always known." it wasn't loud but quietly powerful, more quiet and simple than any thought I’d had but powerful. It blanketed all of my knowledge and I understood and knew for a fact that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints was true and that I’d always known it. As I realized this, it was like a small light was set aglow inside me and spread through me, it felt like it radiated through me and I felt happier than it ever felt in my entire life. Since that day I’ve known and have a strong conviction of the truthfulness of the fullness of the gospel on the earth today. I know with every part of me that this church is true and I can’t and won’t deny it.

How I live my faith

I am currently living my faith by serving a mission in Phoenix Arizona and sharing my faith. :)

Who wrote the Book of Mormon?

Emily
Just as the Bible was written by prophets, the Book of Mormon was written by prophets. They however, lived in the Americas, while those of the bible lived in Middle East. Prophets in both books testify of the reality of God and Jesus Christ. They teach the same things, and are both essential to understanding Gods plan for each of us. The Book of Mormon gives an account of Christ's visitation to the peoples of the Americas and the teachings he gave. It is another testament of Jesus, that he lived, died, and rose again, for you and for me. Show more Show less
