Hi I'm Nick

I'm a smiler. I love to have fun and be happy. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

My name is Nick Velasquez. I am 15. I love to learn. I keep busy with school and it's what I like to do. I love hanging out with my friends. You could call me a social butterfly. I have moved around a lot and have lived in 7 different states. Last year I went to three different high schools. It wasn't that bad, I love learning about people. I am part of a family of 8. I have 3 other brothers and 2 sisters. I love my parents and they have given me everything. Running is my best form of therapy. I love to run it's. I love completeing something that was hard.

Why I am a Mormon

I was raised Mormon, but I haven't always had a testimony of the church. I knew my parents had it and they were always examples to me. I read the Book of Mormon and attended all the church activities. I participated often. In the summer of 2010 I was 14, ready to move from Arizona to Texas. Instead of me hanging out with my friends for the rest of the time I was there I went to a scout camp that was hosted by my church. I didn't want to go but I did. We were told that we wouldn't come back the same. We were biking a hundred miles in the mountains and then at the end we would have a testimony meeting on Sunday. Through out the week I read my scriptures and I read the booklet they gave us. I didn't feel any different. Finally on Sunday morning, I decided to go and pray in the forest. So I took a little hike when I couldn't here anyone and kneeled down. As I started to pray aloud, I could instantly feel the love of my most gracious Heavenly Father. I felt his love for me so strongly I started to cry. I knew Jesus Christ came down and suffered an extreme amount of pain for me and without it I would be lost. After I thanked my God for showing his love for me I walked back to camp. Later when I bore my testimony over what I just experienced, I knew I could not deny that this was the true church. I know that Heavenly Father sent us down for us to be tested. I know he loves us all on an individual basis. I know that Jesus Christ has made it possible for me to atone for my sins. I know that Christ would've came down and suffered just for mee. I know that Joseph Smith was a tool in God's hand to help restore The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. I know that I have my agency and will be held accountable for the things that I do. I know that by being in the church I have found true happiness. I know that I will live with my family forever. I know that we have a modern day prophet that gives us council. I know these things to be true in the name of Jesus Christ, amen.

How I live my faith

I love my faith. I have no problem living it. When people say "Mormons are so strict" or "Mormons can't have any fun" I am confused why they say that. We aren't forced to live our standards we live them because we want to. I feel that I am liberated by living my standards. I won't date until I'm 16 because I know it will keep me out of some mess that I would be better off without. I eat right so I can be healthy. I have fun without any drugs, alcohol, or sexual relationships. I have most of my fun with my friends of the church and my family. Sometimes I just talk and have a great time. I like to go to our church meetings because they are interesting and fun. 3 hours sometimes does not seem like enough time at church. I am glad when I get together with my friends and we just talk. I love to swim and go places. I always keep my standards in mind when I make decisions. I always am happy because if I'm not I believe that it isn't showing a good example of my Savior. I always try to be like my Savior. When I go to the temple I always have a great time because I feel the love everyone in our church has to offer. Serving is one of my favorite things to do and I get a lot of oppurtunities to serve in my church. I always love to wear my Helmet of Salvation...my tassel hat. I always love to make others happy. Smiling is my all time favorite. :)

Do you really believe there is a prophet like Moses alive today?

I believe that the preisthood keys have been restored again to Joseph Smith. I know that our Prophet today holds those keys and is able to have contact with God. He is a great example of what a Mormon really is. Show more Show less
