Hi I'm Marianna

I love running marathons, watching old movies, and collecting funky stuff in thrift stores. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

My husband and I have been married nearly 5 years and we have a very sweet and lively three year old daughter. I have been a long distance runner for 14 years, and for the past 3 years I have been able to push my daughter in a jogger so we can both enjoy the outdoors together and I can continue to participate in races. I no longer have as much time as I used to for my short story writing, or for reading--but I know I will be able to return to these things in the future. Right now I enjoy taking my daughter to the zoo, the park, the library. I read to her, play cars with her, and just have fun talking to her. I've been able to dabble into other hobbies as well; refinishing furniture I get secondhand, wallpapering and painting, sewing, going shooting with my husband, and clock-making. I have discovered I am not much good at gardening, and I don't like scrapbooking. I have lived with depression since I was 15. I have found comfort and aid from my Savior,as well as guidance in it's treatment, and when things have occasionally become very dark, it has been my faith in the plan of salvation that has saved me.

Why I am a Mormon

I have known that this is Jesus Christ's church for as long as I can remember. I have never doubted it's truthfulness, even when my faith has been challenged. God has given the world a second book of scripture, The Book of Mormon, to be read along with the Bible, written by prophets in the Americas at the same time prophets were teaching in Jeruselem. As you read them both, you can feel the Holy Spirit confirm that they are both true books of scripture, and they both testify of Jesus Christ. With a knowledge that Jesus is my Savior, that he established a church on the earth, and then restored that church through Joseph Smith; for me it is then only a question of whether I will do the work to enable me to receive my promised blessings. My family is my greatest source of love and happiness. Not only my husband and daughter, also my parents, my brothers and sister, their spouses, my husband's family, and our extended family. My greatest desire is for us to be together as a family for eternity. I want to do whatever it takes to receive that blessing, and to return and live with my Heavenly Father and with Jesus again. I know that being a member of Christ's church, and following his commandments and prophets, will enable me to be with my family forever.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by obeying God's commandments. I accept opportunities offered to me to serve in the church. I have been able to serve and teach the very youngest children, as well as teaching older children, youth, and adults. We teach about Jesus, and also encourage the children and teenagers to serve those around them, regardless of whether they are members of our church or not. I have enjoyed also the opportunity of visiting members who may not be comfortable coming to church for one reason or another. I've been able to serve them by visiting with them, bringing meals, babysitting children, giving people rides when they've needed them. I've also been helped when I've been struggling, other members have brought me dinner so I didn't have to cook, or babysat my daughter when I was ill. I have been greatly blessed both by the service I have received as well as the service I've been able to give.
