Hi I'm Jeff

I'm a Mormon. I'm 61, been a teacher for 34 years, rebuild vw engines for fun, took kids to work in Hawaii for years.

About Me

I like to talk to people, entertain friends and play games. I like to invent things and am always trying to learn new skills and build things. I will try to fix anything and hate to pay someone else to fix something I can do myself. I have always raised a vegetable garden and love to give the produce away. My hobbies have been photography, coin collecting and rebuilding old VW engines. I am a teacher by profession and love to teach. I have taken many young men to Hawaii to work in the pineapple fields and help them develop into good men. I have two daughters and an adopted son, all of whom are grown. I have one granddaughter who makes life more fun and enjoyable. I have learned the joy of helping out other people and giving of my time and talents. I am musical inclined having played in college bands (french horn) and taught myself to play the piano, sing and directed choirs. Have been married nearly 40 years to my best friend and the love of my life.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a 6th generation Mormon. My ancestors knew Joseph Smith personally and some were related to him. I grew up believing that our church was true and at age 19 I went on a mission for the church. One day at the first of my mission a lady asked if I knew what I was teaching was true. I told her I believed that it was true but did not know for sure. She said for me to go home and when I knew what I was teaching was true to come back and visit her. I knew I had to receive a witness from the Holy Spirit for myself. I then resolved to study the scriptures especially the Book of Mormon more diligently and with sincere prayer to the Lord or witness that this was his word. After a 3 week struggle the spirit bore witness to me that the church was true and I knew for myself. This was when I became a convert to the gospel. I have shared my witness many times for I know it brings a joy and happiness that can only come from knowing what the Lord Jesus Christ expects, following His gospel and experiencing the blessing He is willing to give those who put their trust in him. There is a peace and joy that helps through all the difficulties and challenges that come with life. He has supported me and my family through the hard times of losing family members, but given us the peace that we will see them again and enjoy their company. Receiving a witness that my marriage and family can remain a family forever even after death has given strength to endure many hard times in my life. I know the Lord loves me, I know he is real and I know he will share that knowledge with any that will put forth the effort to find out.

How I live my faith

I believe that to be happy I have to be willing to be of service to others. I recently moved and found that our home owners association had a park, but no funds to mow and keep it up. It has been a lot of fun to mow and try to make the park useable by my neighbors. People have noticed and others have joined to help make it more beautiful. I believe the doctrine of the church and have never even tasted alcohol and coffee and have tried to treat my body like the great gift that it is. I have served in the church since I was 12 years old and have served as the head of our congregation for 15 years, but now have the opportunity to teach teenagers in Sunday School. It has been fantastic to work in so many different callings in our church, I also teach young single adults classes from the scriptures on a couple of week nights each week. I love to share the story of the church and my conversion for it is my way of life and it has provided me with a wonderful life that any can have. I like to visit other members of our church and my neighbors and see how they are doing and to help them when I can.
