Hi I'm Jenny

I'm a wife, a mother, a volunteer in my kid's schools, a soccer mom, I love to run, quilt, read, I am a Mormon.

About Me

I've been married for 19 years, I adore my husband. He is my best friend, we have a great life together...even the hard times have been okay, because he has been with me. We have 3 kids and most of our time is spent raising them. I love my family; my happiest moments are with them. I love being where my kids are, therefore I've been a room mom 16 times (one year I was room mom for all three kids!) I've been a PTA president, and worked with other parents to improve our schools. Before I became a mom, I was a Recreational Therapist. I designed a program that was implemented at 14 locations through out a city; training and teaching underpriveledged youth how to improve their self esteem and life through their recreational choices. I also worked with women and families, helping them understand themselves better. I love my friends, they have been there for me during some really hard times. I love to run; I started running with my dad when I was a little girl, my dream is to run a marathon within the next few months. I love to meet new people and hear their stories. I also love quiet times, times when I pray, or read, or quilt, or am in nature. I love music, one of my favorite sounds is my daughter playing the piano. I've taught voice lessons, and love to hear a new singer's voice emerge. I am grateful for my life and for the people I share it with. I believe life is to be enjoyed, not just endured...so I laugh and eat chocolate every day!

Why I am a Mormon

I have found peace and simplicity in my life by following the teachings of Christ. I know I'm happier when I live the commandments. I was raised in the church, as a teenager I knew that I needed to know for myself if this gospel was true. I prayed and studied and recieved a witness from the Holy Ghost that this church is true. I know I am a better wife, mom, sister, daughter and friend because of my knowledge of truth. I'm grateful that in a world of noise, and differing voices I have an anchor in Christ. Because I am a member of this church, much of the confusion is stilled for me. I am grateful to have the knowledge of a loving Heavenly Father, I love to pray to Him. I love to share my thoughts, feelings, hopes, fears, concerns with Him. I love going to church every Sunday and feeling a sense of peace as I worship there. I love that in my home we pray as a family and read scriptures as a family every day. I'm grateful that as I parent my children I have the guidelines of the church to help me set boundaries for my kids. Even if I was nothing else in this life, I'm eternally grateful that I'm a Mormon!

How I live my faith

I have had the opportunity to work with children, youth and women in our church. Most recently I've been working with the youth; for the last three years I helped plan camps for our teen aged girls. I loved it! What a great way to help teenagers turn to their Heavenly Father. I also helped organize youth outings for teenaged boys and girls. One outing we dressed up as American Pioneers and pulled a handcart for 13 miles over 2 days. What an adventure! Again, it was a great experience to help those teenagers understand themselves a little better, and understand their relationship to God. I've taught classes to children, teens and women. I really love to teach; I have found that when I prepare lessons I learn so much myself. I've worked as a choir director, that was a lot of fun for me. I loved helping bring that element into our weekly church services. One of the things I love about our church is that all the service given is by volunteers. Its a great way for ordinary people to do extraordinary things, while helping others (and themselves) come closer to our Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ. In my home I live my faith by praying daily, actually many times a day. I read scriptures every day, by myself and outloud with my family. Mostly I live my faith by trying every day to be like Jesus Christ; obviously I don't succeed in that quest, but I'm grateful I get to continue to try!
