Hi I'm Tom

I grew up in Arizona. I've always loved flying and working on airplanes.

About Me

I grew up in Arizona and they were good years. I've seen the city grow from cotton farms and dairys to a metropolis. But I miss the days when I was a kid in the 70's and 80 when I could push my gocart or dirtbike accross a road and ride for miles and miles on farm roads and desert. My home is now on the land I used to ride on. I lean towards the tree hugger side but not to any extreme. I dare you to hug a tree and not smile - can't be done. I drive a hybrid and have solar panels on my house. It's a matter of responsibility to me and saves me money. I've always loved to fly and have had some great experiences from hang gliders to Aerobatics. I enjoy model airplnes and full size aircraft. Especially anything that gets me a better view of God's beautifull Earth. I also volunteer at the Commemorative Air Force as a mechanic where the fly a B-17 and B-25 giving rides to veterans and the public to remind us of past sacrifices and the price of freedom.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up around really good people. They were kind I was taught that is an important traight for a follower of Christ. I eventually read the Book of Mormon for myself and it was undeniably the word of god that helps me be a better person and treat others with respect, kindness and charity. If I hadn't read the Book of Mormon for myself I probably would have spent all my time pursuing aviation and missed out on being a father and husband. I'm not perfect, but when I mess up I know it and I can't say I didn't know better. So I strive to be better.

How I live my faith

I try to imagine myself in other's shoes and realize that everyone deserves help and understanding. The gospel has really helped me to have patience with others and even myself.

Why is self-reliance important to Mormons? Why do Mormons talk about emergency preparedness?

Tom
I think it would be nice to be in a position to help others if there were a disaster. It's not bad to need help ourselves but whenever possible I think we should be prepared to sustain ourselves and help others. Show more Show less
