Hi I'm Doug

I grew up in Utah, lived in Atlanta for the last 19 years developing high tech digital video products and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I have been very happily married to a wonderful and loving woman for more than 27 years. I am the father of five fantastic children and grandfather to two lovely grandchildren. I am an Electrical Engineer by education and absolutely love technology! From the first crude handheld calculator to the latest personal computing device and everything in between ... I've always been the first "kid on the block" to have one. I love to learn how everything works and how to do new things ... often just once is enough! Some of those things where once is enough ... tiling a large floor, installing a large sprinkler system, sewing a dress for my wife, ... My most enjoyable job was teaching Electrical Engineering courses at a University. I enjoy working on computers, amateur radio, cooking outdoors, going on very long drives, visiting other countries, and learning how things work.

Why I am a Mormon

Although I grew up in Utah and was raised a Mormon from the start there has still been the need to continuously examine who I am and what I am becoming. I have always believed in God. I have never questioned that! It is one of my most cherished blessings. Over the years as I have asked for help, for guidance, for answers to my questions and to know if I'm on the right path there has always been the sweet peaceful guidance and confirmation from God through the Spirit. I can't deny this witness. I know that God loves each and every one of us his literal children. I know that he has an eternal plan for each and every one of us and wants nothing but the best for us ... everything that he has! I know that he has prepared a way to accomplish this through the atonement of Jesus Christ. I am eternally indebted to Jesus Christ and his agony and suffering for me to provide this path back to our Father's presence. It is this testimony confirmed through the Spirit that motivates me to keep going forward. The scriptures teach that "by their fruits ye shall know them". I firmly believe that the fruits of my chosen path are the fruits that God desires of each of his children.

How I live my faith

I have been greatly blessed over the years to have the opportunity to serve in various capacities in the church working closely with the youth as well as with adults. I receive great satisfaction and joy in serving others at church and in the community. There is great satisfaction for me when I see lives change as I strive to do that which I believe my Father in Heaven desires me to do. My life has revolved around my religion from my earliest memories. It is my belief in God, Jesus Christ and their eternal plan for each and every one of us as an individual that causes me constantly to examine who I am and what I need to be doing to become a better individual. It is what drives me to work with my children to help them to reach their full potential and to teach them of God's ways and desires for them. It is what drives me to work with others and to help them realize their potential and draw closer to God. My belief is what gives me the power and the strength to make it happen.
