Hi I'm Missy

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm 26 years old, and I've been married for 7 years to my husband Kevin. I have three children; Twin four year old girls, and a one year old boy. I'm a stay at home mom, and have a full time job taking care of our children and home. Becoming a mom was my dream as a child, and I am happy to say that I am living that dream. The calling of a mother is HUGE! It is at times challenging and overwhelming, but also offers so many rewards and blessings. One of my hobbies is writing, and it's been a passion of mine since elementary school. I love writing creatively, and have used our family blog as a way to continue this hobby. I also love to dance! I danced with my sisters through highschool, and took some dance classes in college. A special treat for me is going thrift store shopping. I'm a woman who loves a bargain, and it's always fun walking into a thrift store. You never know what you might find! I try to stay active, and enjoy going to the gym a few times a week. I like running, and recently started up again after having my 3rd child. I'm a birth junkie, and I love everything about birth. I'm very involved in the birthing community, and love talking birth with anyone who is interested. We live close to both sides of our family, and I enjoy spending time with them. Family is so important to me. In the future, I hope to add more children to our family, and go back to school. I would love to get a degree in literature, and maybe write a book one day.

Why I am a Mormon

I was fortunate enough to be born into an LDS family, and I grew up learning about the gospel. While going to church and being active in this religion was initally my parent's choice, it became more of my own personal choice as I got older. When taking part of church activities or listening to gospel messages as a child and youth, I could feel the Spirit and it testified to me that this church was true. My testimony started when I was young, and continues to grow each day. I can see the blessings that come when I am obedient to God's laws, as well as the consequences when I am not. Heavenly Father's plan for me is very real, and I see His workings in my life on a daily basis. I know that Heavenly Father is aware of me, my wants, needs and struggles in this life. I also know that His plan is the only one that allows us to return back to Him, and be sealed to our families for time and all eternity. Choosing to follow God's plan for me has brought so much happiness in my life, and the lives of my family members. I cannot imagine what life would be like without the knowledge of the gospel and His plan of happiness. I feel peace knowing where I came from, who I am, and what my purpose is here on Earth. While there are many challenges, and things that I don't yet understand, I know that Heavenly Father is in control and I trust Him. I am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, because I know that it is the only true church on this earth. I am a member because I know that Jesus Christ died for me and atoned for my sins, so that there would be a way for me to repent and find a way back to my Heavenly Father. I am a member because the gospel provides a way for me to gain all that I ultimately want; to be reunited with my Heavenly Father and live with my family eternally in a state of never ending happiness.

How I live my faith

Along with attending regular church meetings every Sunday, I help organize a system called visiting teaching. Each woman who choses to have the calling of a visiting teacher has a female companion, and is assigned to visit, serve, and fellowship a few other women in the ward. I sit down with a church leader once a month and create these assignments, and make sure that everyone's current calling is working out. I make sure that everyone who wants a visiting teacher has one, and that each woman is contacted each month so that they know they are important and thought of. I give reminders at church to do visiting teaching, and at the end of the month I enter in a report of what visits were done, or not done. I try to make any changes that I feel will make visiting teaching more effective for each individual, and I communicate these changes once they are made. I myself, am a visiting teacher, and I go with my companion to visit three different women in our church. We enjoy getting to know these women personally and trying to create a relationship with them. We share a spiritual message from our monthly church magazine with them on our monthly visits, and see if there are any needs. A lot of times our visits are taken up with just talking and chatting about their life and what is going on. We like to take them goodies on their birthday, or babysit for them so they can have a night out. Mostly I enjoy being able to get to know these women and visit with them in their homes. Outside of Sunday church and my calling, I enjoy attending church functions like holiday parties or get togethers. Every few months we have a weekday activity at the church with just the women in our ward. These meetings are different each time, and usually include service or learning a new trade. My husband and I try to attend the temple as often as possible, and love going to the temple christmas lights as well as the easter pageant every year.
