Hi I'm Sherry

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a city girl from the suburbs of Chicago. I am a Cubs fan(this is our pennant year, I can feel it). The Chicago Bears rank at the top of my NFL list, though I am married to a Miami Dolphins fan. Growing up in the Chicago area holds many wonderful memories and friends for me. After college, I worked as a Med Tech(hospital lab) for about 10 years. Then, I traded in my microscope for mommyhood. One of the best descisions of my life. It was a hard transition from the work force to the home force, but aside from laundry, I love it. My life now is full of sideline cheering for a variety of sports, scouts, pony tails, dress up parties, school musicals etc..It's all about the family. We are Team Gunn, 7 kids,my sweetheart and myself. We like to hang out together; playing games, reading, watching good movies, traveling, sight seeing, and the beach is our family favorite place. Since getting married, we have lived in 10 states that include 22 moves, none to the same town. When asked "where are you from?" my kids usually respond "The United States". That's us, moving and grooving wherever the Lord sends us. It is not the life I ever imagined for myself, it is so much better.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because someone loved me enough to show me a better way. Happiness to me was having a college education, great job, good friends, family, and a car that did not break down. It was a good life, as long as I was the only one in the picture. Then, my first son was born. When you realize that you are now responsible for the care and nurturing of another, you stop and think, “Will he grow up successful, happy, feeling good about the life he has created for himself? Will he find purpose in this life? The Lord prepared me, thru this child, to receive a message of love, hope, and purpose. I had felt happy for what I had accomplished, but it was without purpose. I was going thru the motions of life without real intent. I wanted my son to have a reason to make good choices, a reason to live,be happy and work hard. I wanted him to have a foundation to turn to when life was good or bad. My desire was for him to have hope, no matter what challenges he may face. Hope for a better tomorrow, hope for happiness, hope for the eternities. That hope was found in the Gospel of Jesus Christ. The Gospel has given my life purpose, hope, peace and love beyond all measure. The Gospel has brought me happiness in ways that I did not know possible. The Gospel is true my dear friends. I have lived without it most of my life, now I know what it is like to live with peace.

How I live my faith

My membership in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints has given me the opportunity to work and learn with children, plan events, teach youth, share Gospel truths and serve the Lord in any capacity He has seen fit. My testimony of Christ and His atonement grows as I surround my family with uplifting music, memories, scripture study, daily prayer, youth activities, community and church service, hard work and most importantly time. The Gospel has given my life such purpose and meaning. It makes you look at your self and others through differnet eyes when you realize that you are a daughter of God, and we are all His children. It was humbling for me to think of how much love our Father in Heaven has for me, to give His only Son, so that I may return to Him someday. I love this church, and feel blessed to know that God truly loves and forgives me. My heart is at last full.
