Hi I'm Gordon

I have taught instrumental music (mostly orchestra) for the past thirty plus years. I'm a Mormon.

I have also completed most of the course work for a Doctor of Musical Arts Degree from the University of Arizona. I was named String Teacher of The Year in Utah’s Davis County School District, Player of the Year on both trumpet and violin at Snow College. In 2006 I was nominated to be included in the “Biltmore Who’s Who among Executives and Professional Men.” I served as an Associate Conductor of the Nebo Youth Symphony and the Utah Valley Youth Symphony. I served as Concert Master of the San Juan Symphony Orchestra and was Music Director and Principle Conductor The San Juan Strings. I was co-founder, Music Director and Principle Conductor of the Southwest Youth Symphony. I am an orchestra instructor for a Community College Orchestra. Most important I am an a husband and father with a six wonderful grandchildren and two more on the way. Life is great.

Why I am a Mormon

My life as a youth was wonderful and a challenge. I became convinced that Jesus Christ lives in many small ways. I remember as a youngster the spirit of the Lord resting on me and feeling the presence of my Heavenly Father. As a teen the guidance of the Spirit was strong in my life. After beginning college I came to understand the great significance of the Saviors love and especially the atonement. As I work with my children and grandchildren, my wife and I have had blessing after blessing poured down from heaven. Those blessings have enriched the lives of my wife, children and grandchildren. Jesus is my friend, my Savior, and King.

How I live my faith

In the Mormon Church I work with members in several different congregations improve their teaching of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. I organize and conduct training meetings, sit in councils on different committees and teach an adult class. I am often asked to speak in meeting. In the community I do all I can to live the way that Jesus would have me live. Where I can, I share principles that have been taught by the Savior. The principles include honesty, good language, treating others with kindness, serve to others, respect of self and others, honor comes in doing the right thing, loving and honoring parents. My life is rich with opportunities to share and teach.

Do you really believe there is a prophet like Moses alive today?

I believe that God does and has always loved his children. He spoke to prophets such as Abraham and Moses. One of the Old Testament prophets named Amos teaches that God will always reveal his secret to his servants the prophet (Amos 3:7). In today’s world with all that has and is going on in we need living prophets more than ever. Just as God led his children in Old Testament through prophets like Moses, today he leads His children through his chosen prophet, Thomas S. Monson. Here is the fun part. You can know this for yourself. Take some time and listen to the words of the living prophet. Ask God if what you hear is true. Ask in the name of Jesus Christ. He will answer. Consider how knowing God’s will can benefit your life. Show more Show less
