Hi I'm Anson Crum

Welcome to my page.

About Me

Born and raised LDS, I'm the oldest of six and a junior at BYU studying bioinformatics. I love baseball, reddit, and being alive and well. I served a mission in Singapore and Malaysia from July 2012-2014 and it was the most amazing and life-changing experience.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because the Gospel espoused to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has brought me more joy and peace of mind than any other institution of which I've been a part. Though I don't know everything, I've asked questions and received answers from a divine source affirming my membership in the Church. I've grown closer to my Savior by being a member, and that's what's most important to me.

How I live my faith

It can be hard to live my faith, given the pressures I'm under. Even though I go to a Church-sponsored school, it doesn't make it easy. I've found strength in sincere prayer to help cover me where I am weak, and give thanks in those things that I can do well. I try to read the word of God daily and I attend church every week. One of the most important things I can do to live my faith is to try to improve every day, relying on the grace of Jesus. He's given me a priceless gift and I hope to make the most of it.

Do you really believe there is a prophet like Moses alive today?

Anson Crum
I often have discussions with my friends about whether or not I believe that we have a prophet that can talk with God today. Honestly, I find it hard to believe that God would not give a prophet, especially in these times. It's the only way that he can directly reveal doctrine for those seeking Him. The Bible, the amazing canon that it is, cannot provide exact, specific doctrine for today's time. How many different churches are there today upon the face of the Earth? How many claim to be the true church of Christ. It's been related to where, in mathematics, you can draw an infinite number of lines if you only have on point. When a second point is given, then can you draw a straight line. With just one point, the Bible, there will be a limitless number of churches with different doctrines, but when prophets like Thomas S Monson and Joseph Smith making a second point, along with the Book of Mormon, we can correctly discern Christ's "line" or doctrine. We in the Bible, we read that "God is no respecter of persons" (Acts 10:34) So why would He then provide Moses to lead the Israelites through the desert, but not a prophet to lead us through these trying times? I know that we have a true prophet today, like Moses, in the prophet Thomas S Monson and also know the Joseph Smith was a true prophet that was called of God to reveal truths to God's people.
