Hi I'm Laura

I grew up in Washington State. I have a degree in chemistry education. Currently, I am a stay at home mother. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I attended college at Brigham Young University-Idaho and got a degree in chemistry education with a minor in Physics Education. I have my teaching certificate in the state of Idaho. I taught Junior High science for 2 years and loved it! I quit to stay at home and take care of my little boy. I am fortunate enough to have a husband who works hard to allow me to have that privilege. I love learning new things, reading books, being outdoors, hiking, swimming, and biking. I also love baking and am learning to decorate cakes. I enjoy being crafty and making things that I can display in my home. I love scrap-booking and card-making. I recently completed a Triathlon and also ran in a half-marathon. I look forward to being able to train for more races in the future to help myself stay fit.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I have chosen to remain an active member of this religion because of the peace my faith brings to my life. In times of trial and frustration, I have often found answers and comfort through prayer and scripture study. I studied chemistry and physics in college, and found that my faith and testimony of God increased the more I learned about the complexity and beauty of the world we live in, and the great miracle of our living bodies. Science taught me how. My religion teaches me why.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by participating and serving as much as I can in both my community and my local Church. I currently am a member of a local parent support group and work organizing volunteers to work in classrooms with our young children. I have served in my church in many different capacities in the past, including teaching classes, organizing activities, coordinating music in our meetings. I currently serve in a program called "Visiting teaching". The purpose of this program is to ensure that all the women in our local unit are cared for and their needs, whether emotional, spiritual or physical are being met. I enjoy serving and feeling like I am can make a positive difference in someone's life.
