Hi I'm Jessalyn

I grew up in Phoenix, and I love music and sports. I'm a Mormon!

About Me

I am currently a student at Arizona State studying Elementary Education. I love to work with little kids and I cannot wait to become a teacher! I also enjoy performing and listening to music. I have been teaching myself to play different instruments since I was 5 years old. My main instruments are piano and violin and I also love to sing! Music brings me a feeling of pure joy! Sports are also an exciting part of my life. I not only have a creative side, but a competitive one as well. I played volleyball for six years and loved every moment of it. And if I am not on the volleyball court, I am attending my school's football games! Last but not least, I love my family. I would do absolutely anything for them. My family is always there for me, and they helped shape me into the person I am today!

Why I am a Mormon

Both of my parents were raised in the Church and I grew up following their example. I am not a Mormon because my parents told me I had to be, I am a Mormon because I choose to be. Being a member of the Church allows me to see the bigger picture in life. I know where I came from, who I am, and who I want to become. Being raised in the Church, I know that I am a daughter of God and I want to gain Christ-like attributes so that I can one day become perfect just like Him. Through my parent's example, I have seen the blessings that come to us when you strive to live God's commandments. I know that God knows me by name and wants to shower me with blessings, but the only way He can do that is if I do all that I can to live by the teachings in the scriptures. I have studied the Bible and read the Book of Mormon cover to cover many times, and I have felt the Spirit of the Lord testify to me that it is true.

How I live my faith

I recently moved, so I do not currently serve in a specific capacity in my local ward, but I take what I learn at church and in my scripture study, and I incorporate it into my daily life. I wear a ring on my finger with "CTR" engraved into the center of a heart. CTR stands or choose the right. I wear this ring everyday to remind me to make daily decisions that allow me to become a stronger person and draw near unto my Savior, Jesus Christ. Not only does it remind me to keep the commandments, but it reminds me to not be afraid of who I am. I am not ashamed of what I believe, so even though I may not be doing the "popular" thing. I know I am doing the right thing.
