Hi I'm Cassandra

I was always searching for something more to life. I found it. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I love sports, crafts, the outdoors and the smell of rain. I've fractured my pelvis and chipped a vertebrae before after a quad flipped over onto me--quads now scare me just a little bit. I really love life though and am going to college right now. My major is Secondary Education(History) but i'm thinking about changing it soon. I'm one of those people that likes all sorts of things and can't decide. Speaking of "can't decide", i'm so indecisive when it comes to just about anything--I simply can't help it.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up with no religion in my life although I lived right down the street from an LDS church. Through the years I always felt like something was missing. I often felt unhappy and alone and even when I had so many wonderful things in my life they weren't enough. By my sophomore year of high school i started going out with this boy and he was Mormon. He started inviting me to church and ever since that first Sunday I loved it. I found so much peace in the church and I instantly felt that this was the thing I had been missing in my life. I started taking missionary discussions a month later and found out even more about the church. I soon came to know that I wanted to be a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and I was baptized by my boyfriend in November of 2009. Ever since that day i've been loving life. The LDS church has given me that meaning i desperately desired in my life and has provided me with True Happiness.

How I live my faith

I try to start and end everyday with a prayer, and do my best to read my scriptures everyday. I use to be the Secretary for the young women laurel class when i was in high school, but right now i don't have a calling. I do however visit teach 2 girls every month, talking with them about how they are doing and just telling them a short inspirational message. I attend church every week on Sunday and go to other meetings that the church puts on some sundays.

What blessings can you receive from reading the Book of Mormon, the Bible, and other scriptures?

Cassandra
Scriptures have come to be an extremely important part of my life. When I read from them i receive so much guidance and peace. Often times when i'm having a particularly difficult day or am struggling with something i'll turn to my scriptures for answers. Many people fail to see that the scriptures can be applied directly to one's life and the lessons within can apply to the current situation you are going through. The Lord has planned them out that way. Scriptures are God's gift to us to guide us back to him. Reading my scriptures also provides me with knowledge of God's plan for us through life and the eternities. I find great comfort when I read the scriptures and couldn't imagine my life without them. How can I know Mormonism is true?

Cassandra
You can read the Book of Mormon and pray to your Heavenly Father to ask him if it is true. If you sincerely desire to know the truth He will help to guide you. For some the answer comes quickly but for others it takes time and consideration. For me it took a couple of months to know for a certainty that Mormonism is true. Be patient with yourself and with the Lord. Show more Show less

What do Mormons believe is the purpose of life?

Cassandra
We believe that the purpose of life is to become more like our Heavenly Father through trials and experiences and live in a way that will allow us to return to Him one day. Show more Show less

What is being a Mormon like?

Cassandra
Being a Mormon is just fantastic! I'm a convert to the church, so i haven't always been Mormon, and I can really see a difference in my life from then and now. I'm much more optimistic about life and I find great joy in the knowledge I possess of the purpose of life. I now know where I came from and where i'm going. I feel the love of Christ and his sacrifice for me daily and am able to get through my trials by trusting in God's will. The church really has blessed my life beyond my wildest dreams. There is also many friends to be made in the church; I absolutely love going to church on Sunday and being greeted by warm faces, even complete strangers. There is a beautiful love amongst the Mormons that I've never seen anywhere else. Show more Show less

Do you really believe there is a prophet like Moses alive today?

Cassandra
Yes, I truly believe in a modern day prophet. It's what makes sense to me. Since the creation of Adam and Eve, God has chosen prophets to guide his people and to preach the gospel on the earth. He continues to provide us with prophets to guide us in these latter days. We receive council from the prophet, Thomas S. Monson, and his counselors on how to overcome our trials, get out of debt, make marriages stronger, raise a family, and deal with other modern day problems. Show more Show less
