Hi I'm Tyler

I am a husband and a father. I am a teacher. I am a video game player, and a movie enthusiast. I am a Mormon.

About Me

I am a new dad. My wife of 2 and a half years and I just welcomed a beautiful baby girl. She has made our life more amazing than I could have possibly imagined. I have had many jobs growing up. Everything from retail, to shipping, to banking, and telemarketing, but I am finally in my dream occupation of teaching. I have been teaching 2nd grade for just over a year and I love it. I graduated from college at Brigham Young University - Idaho. I spent my time there learning how to be a great teacher and I am so grateful for the things I learned during my years there. I speak Spanish fluently. I lived in Mexico City for two years as I served a mission for the LDS church.

Why I am a Mormon

The easy answer to why I'm a Mormon would be to say that it is because my parents raised me as one. But that wouldn't be entirely true. My parents did raise me in the church, but it was I who decided to be a member. Once I was old enough to reason in my head I started to ask questions. I realized that if there is only one God, it would stand that there is only one truth about Him. There are a lot of churches in the world and I had only attended one. I attended other churches with friends to see what was taught and discussed. I studied through the scriptures as best as I could for my age. I came to the conclusion that if there was only one God, and only one truth, then God would want me to find it. I prayed asking to know what the true church was. I got an overwhelming feeling that I was already a member of it. That was the point in my life that I truly embraced the church. I have since had other experiences that showed me that I am where I belong and that my Father in Heaven is proud of where I am.

How I live my faith

I start my week, every week, by going to church. I love the fact that we have church for three hours each week. Being able to go to a class that is just for other adults is great because we can talk more in depth about topics. Going to a class with other men my age, talking about being better husbands, and fathers, is something great for me to start the week off. During the week I strive to do my best in everything I do. I know I'm not perfect but I do try. As a teacher I know that I can be a great example, and someone my students can look up to. I strive to give my students opportunities to grow and be better people. I am a leader in Webelos for Cub Scouts. I get with 10 year olds every week and teach them how to be good citizens and teach them skills that will help them. I start my work days with a prayer, and I go to bed every night kneeling with my wife in prayer. We study the scriptures when we can and plan on teaching our daughter all about our Heavenly Father, and His son, Jesus Christ.
