Hi I'm Doug

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I have been married for nearyly 30 years. My wife and I have two kids and have recently become the guardian of our 15 year old nephew. I work in hospital administration and my wife is a high school english teacher. I enjoy time with my family and enjoy the outdoors.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because i know the Mormon religion to be true. I have known the church is true for as long as I can remember. I know we have a Father in Heaven. His Son, Jesus Christ is our Savior. He came to this earth and took upon Him the sins afflictions of us all. He is our Advocate. He does "know" what it is like to suffer and endure any hardship we may face here on the earth, because he has been through it. Perhaps in a way that we cannot fully understand, he carried that collective burden for each of us and collectively all of us. Because of His Atoning sacrifice, we will all be resurrected. Through obedience to his commandments, we can go to the temple and there make and enter into sacred eternal covenants that will teach us how to return to our Father and live with Him. I am glad that we have a prophet to guide us today. This prophet is chosen of God and is the same kind of prophet that we read about in the Old Testament. Joseph Smith as a boy, wanted to learn what church or religion he should associate with. After reading in the Bible, in James, the invitation to "any who lack wisdom' to ask of God, Joseph did just that. He went to a grove near his home and prayed. There, he was blessed with a visit from the Father and Son. He was told to join none of the churches at the time. He became the prophet of the restoration, restoring the Church as it was before the great apostacy. He translated the Book of Mormon, a record of ancient peoples who lived here centuries ago. We honor what he did in restoring the Gospel of Jesus Christ. I know this to be true.

How I live my faith

I am fortunate to be involved in teaching young men, ages 14-16, in my ward. We teach about work, careers, scouting, and the gospel. We teach about auto mechanics and household repairs. As I mentioned earlier, I work in hospital administration and enjoy what I do. I try to live my life in a manner consistent with the teachings of our Master and Savior, Jesus Christ. I am currently involved in both the local United Way and the local Rotary Club
