Hi I'm Larry

I'm a Mormon. I love the outdoors especially hunting and fishing. I'm a runner and hiker. I'm a Vietnam Veteran and retired.

About Me

I was raised in an old fashioned family from Texas, moving to California as a young child. After completing school, I joined the Marines. I was married during my first year in the Marine Corp and then received orders for Viet Nam for thirteen months. It was difficult to leave my sweetheart. After my tour of duty, my wife and I lived in North Carolina for 2 1/2 years where our first son was born. After completing my military service, we moved to California to start civilian life. After the birth of our second son, the church was introduced to me and my family. Family is important to me as I came to realize that I could have them forever through the gospel. My wife and I were baptized together when we were in our mid 20s, having been blessed with 3 more sons. We have 17 grandchildren. I had a career in maintenance and operations and am now happily retired.

Why I am a Mormon

I was introduced to the gospel in my mid 20s. The church just made sense to me. It has everything in it that I had read in the bible in my youth. I know that Jesus is my Savior and he talks to his prophets today as he did in the scriptures. As a youth, I went to alot of different churches. My family did not have a specific religion, but I knew there was a God and not sure who he was. As a young man, I was not sure how to pray, so as a "wish prayer" I would ask for a pretty girl to love me forever. Through the missionary discussions, I discovered that this would be possible. Heavenly Father does answer prayers. As I look back over my life, I can see where he has intervened in our behalf and protected me. From my military service to my outdoor activities and especially in raising our family.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by trying to live the teachings of my Savior. I presently work as a service missionary in the employment resource center trying to help everyone in our area who needs employment. I helped the young men in our community collect food for the needy. As a home teacher, I've seen the Lord's hand in healing those that are sick or afflicted through priesthood blessings. I follow the counsel of the Lord's servants by doing what is requested of me.
