Hi I'm Gabriel

I'm a martial artist. I'm a college student. And I'm a Mormon!

About Me

I completed my associate's degree in general studies, and have worked as a martial arts instructor and cashier at a grocery store. I'm a martial arts practioner, and have have studied Chinese Kenpo Karate, Gracie Jiu-Jitsu, and Filipino Martial Arts, and have recentIy picked up Boxing. I love mixed martial arts (MMA) training, and hope to compete in that down the road. I also love playing basketball, football soccer, reading, and writing (short stories, poems, songs, etc.). I still not sure what to study yet, but some of my thoughts are opening my own martial arts school, go to dental school, or working in the retail/grocery business.

Why I am a Mormon

My parents are both members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I've grown up as a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and my parents raised me and taught me to do what is right and rely on my Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ. I'm a Mormon and continue to follow the gospel of Christ because I've seen how I've been blessed in my life by having it. I also have prayed to know if the Book of Mormon is true, and received an answer by the power of the Holy Ghost, which testified to me that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is the same church that existed when Christ was on the earth. That answer from God has influenced every aspect of my life. It has become the cornerstone for my testimony of my Father in Heaven and His Son, Jesus Christ. It is the foundation of my testimony that God called Joseph Smith to be a prophet, through whom the True and Living Church of Jesus Christ is again on the earth, led by a living prophet of God. Though challenges may come, or the clouds of darkness and doubt may gather, my testimony of the Book of Mormon, and everything that is built upon it, has carried me through these storms and will continue to do so. I know God lives. He is our Father, and we are His children, and He will always be there for us as we do all we can to stay close to Him. I know that Jesus is the Christ. I know He lives. He is my Savior and Redeemer, my Counselor and Friend.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by following the counsel of our prophet and president of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day saints, President Thomas S. Monson. I also study the scriptures everyday, especially the Book of Mormon. I also share the gospel with others and invite them to learn more about it and apply it to their lives. I pray to Heavenly Father everyday, and seek His inspiration on how to serve Him and my fellow man.

Why is it important for us to take care of our bodies? Why are our bodies called temples of God in the Bible?

God created our physical bodies so that are spirits could have a place to dwell in while we would live here on earth. A physical body is one of God's most prized gifts to us His children. He knows what we need in order for our bodies to function and to help us learn all He wants us to learn, and to become who He wants us to become, in this life. That is why he has asked us to abstain from harmful and addicting substances such as alcohol, tobacco, tea, coffee, and illegal drugs. We even counseled to balance what we eat with healthy amounts of grains, meat, fruits and vegetables. This counsel can be found in the 89th section of the Doctrine and Covenants. The Lord has given us a promise in that same section that if we abide by this counsel He gives us, which is called the Word of Wisdom, our health will be better, we will be able to receive more knowledge, and be able to withstand the temptations of the adversary. The Word of Wisdom isn't a new thing. It is an eternal principle, and God knew when we would need it, so He gave it to us for our day. I myself have applied the Word of Wisdom, and I know it is from God, revealed to us through a modern-day prophet, which was Jospeh Smith. It is just one evidence that there is a living prophet on the earth, and that this is the Church of Jesus Christ, led by the Savior himself. Show more Show less
