Hi I'm Tyrene

I'm a Mother of four children and a Mormon. I teach piano, volunteer in schools, and love running, traveling, and the outdoors.

About Me

As a young girl and teenager prepared and looked forward to a time in my life when I could marry a nice guy and be a Mom. I have always tried to live life to the fullest: I graduated from college, taught youth around the country, ran a marathon, and studied abroad. During my senior year of college, I met that nice guy and now I'm living my family dream. Life still has it's ups and downs but I am content in my day to day activites caring for my family and raising my children. I love being on the front row of their lives, watching them learn and seeing them grow. On the side, I teach a few piano lessons, volunteer in my children's classrooms, and love to hike, run, and play in the outdoors. I also enjoy traveling with my family and love experiencing new places and people.

Why I am a Mormon

I was raised by parents who lived their belief in Jesus Christ. I was blessed to witness their conviction to follow His teachings and learned from an early age of the tremendous peace that comes from following His example. We regularly attended church as a family and were taught lessons from the scriptures. As a teenager, I remember times when my beliefs were challenged by friends not of my Faith. I felt compelled during those times to gain knowledge of my own that what my parents had always lived and taught me, was true. I desired to know that the Church of Jesus Christ was his church on this earth. I began to pray for my own witness from the Holy Ghost and also started to look for ways the teachings of Jesus Christ were blessing my life. My conviction that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints is the true church of Jesus Christ was forged little by little from that time on through specific and beautiful answers to personal prayers and recongition that the principles taught by Jesus Christ have brought me peace and protected me from evil. I have the privilege now to teach my own children these truths and to invite them to also learn truth for themselves through the Holy Ghost. I testify that we have experienced much peace in our home by studying the scriptures as a family, attending church together, and daily living the way that Jesus Christ taught us to live. I know the teachings of Jesus Christ are true and that through his sacrifice we can become whole. I also testify that we have a loving Heavenly Father who knows us personally and wants us to return to live with him someday.

How I live my faith

Being given the opportunity to live my Faith is one of the greatest blessings of my Faith. I have been blessed with countless ways to reach out to others around me and learn more about my Savior through this service. For many years as a young mother, I was asked to preside over the young women in our congregation ages 12-18. I taught them lessons each Sunday about the gospel of Jesus Christ and planned and attended weekly activities with them. These activities were both fun, social, activities as well as instructive. As I developed relationships with them, I also had many opportunities to mentor them one on one about critical choices they were making in relationships, school and in their families. I currently spend much of my time as president of the chidren's program in our congregation. We call it Primary. Our organization oversees the two hours of Sunday instruction for the children ages 18 months to 12 years old, as well as the week-night Cub Scout program for boys 8-12 and a program for the girls of that same age called Activity days. Creating and maintaining a strong family unit is probably the most important way I live my Faith. My children need to learn about a loving Heavenly Father from loving parents. My best efforts are spent in teaching my children that they are loved, not just by me, but by a Father in Heaven and His Son Jesus Christ. This teaching is done in a million different activites, encouragements, corrections and through personal example. It is also achieved by having strong marriage and a deep rooted respect and love for my husband. We work to develop our friendship and love for each other daily.
