Hi I'm Jane.

I'm a wife, a mother of 4 grown children, a grandma and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I was blessed to be a stay-at-home mom. Growing up, my mom had to work and I was often with a babysitter or home alone. It was important to me to be at home when my kids were little and when they got home from school and my husband worked hard to support my desires. I was lucky to be able to help in their classes, go on field trips and even babysit some of their friends. As our children got older, it seemed even more important for me to be there for them and our home was always a fun place where the kids and their friends congregated. Now that our children are all grown, my husband and I are empty-nesters. We have found that we love our time together! We cook together, ride bikes, kayak, take walks and watch movies. We travel to see our kids and granddaughter and parents and look forward to visiting Hawaii and other destinations. My favorite thing in the world is to have our whole family together. Life is good!

Why I am a Mormon

My family joined the church when I was pretty young so I don't really consider myself a convert, but I feel that I was truly converted as a teenager. I would compare myself to my peers and see how much happier I was. I saw that obeying the commandment that my friends thought were restrictive were actually keeping me safe. As I prayed about my choices I felt in my mind and in my heart that the Lord was happy with me and that I was in the right place, doing the right things. I especially love the guidance that we receive from our prophet and the help in raising my family that the programs of the church supply. The teachings of Jesus Christ are such a comfort to me when life seems hard and I have come to know and trust that He can truly help me with my problems and sorrows. I have felt His love for me- it is awesome and it makes me want to be a better person.

How I live my faith

I have really learned to love the scriptures lately. I have been teaching an early morning seminary class for the past 3 years where we have studied the scriptures together at 6:00 am! I have had high school Juniors and Seniors in my class and it has been such a joy to spend time with them and to become more familiar with the gospel of Jesus Christ. This year we are studying the Old Testament and I love the stories there and the lessons we can apply to ourselves, even all these years later. I am so grateful for the time I get to spend with the youth!
