Hi I'm Karen

I love flowers, food and rhythm & blues and I am a mormon.

About Me

I was born and raised in Idaho married Chris from Chicago, moved to Arizona and landed in Washington. It took four universities and 19 years but I was able to finish my Bachelor of Science degree in Business. I hope to someday soon open my floral/event business - one that my husband has been encouraging me to begin for many, many years. I have enjoyed volunteering in the public schools that my four children have attended. If I could meet anyone in the world from past to the present it would have to be my grandparents. Three of the four of them passed away either before I was born or when I was very young. My Grandpa Sheffield was a great example of cheerfulness as he battled Parkinson's disease. I know that I will meet my other granparents in the eternities and it will be a sweet experience to feel their love and see their faces. I try to honor their name every day. I feel great happiness when my family is together and find great pride in my family as we move forward with our lives - my husband and children are awesome!

Why I am a Mormon

I was raised in a latter-day saint home and was baptized at 8. The gospel continues to be a blessing to me as I look to the example of the Savior as I meet the challenges in my life. The gospel gives me focus and hope. It realigns me each week as I attend my meetings. I am thankful for the knowledge of the perfect love of the Savior and the saving principles of repentance and forgiveness. As each new phase of my life seems to come at me full speed I find myself needing to try again and readjust. How grateful I am for eternity and this gospel of second chances.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by trying to incorporate the standards and principles of the gospel within my small circle of influence. I enjoy serving others and especially cooking and sharing what I have made! My world famous (actually my mom's!) sugar cookies and my world famous (actually my sister's!) minestrone soup are always met with smiles when our family delivers them to our friends near and far! An unexpected joy for me throughout the years has been to use my floral and music talents to help friends and family with funeral or weddings. I never knew all the times I complained to my mother about my music lessons or starting in the floral business as a delivery driver would bring me such happiness so many years later. Serving others helps me bring me outside of my own problems; it gives me focus and so much fulfillment.
