Hi I'm John Barton

I'm Texan and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I’m a dad of four children who enjoys spending time with my family. We like to go camping, fishing, bike riding, swimming, geocaching and jumping on the trampoline. I'm a dentist. I love to play basketball, kickball, baseball, and pretty much anything that is competitive. I also like to hunt and shoot guns.

Why I am a Mormon

I've chosen to be a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints because of the truths I've found in this religion. I believe everyone knows good from bad by the light of Christ which is in everyone. Finding the true church of Jesus Christ and following it's teachings takes a deep conviction. Through searching and prayer I believe everyone can find out for themselves what is true if they pay attention to the feelings they have and use reason.

How I live my faith

In my community I try to live the best I can by being honest and doing good to others. When hurricane Ike came through Texas I wanted to help so I and some other members of my church went to Houston to help the victims there. We cut down trees and helped remove debris. In a speech class during my sophomore year of college, I had the option of giving a formal speech to the class, or participating with Family Service Association and their Adopt a Family for Christmas program. I find joy and value in helping and providing service to others, so I chose the latter. I spent approximately twenty-one hours giving speeches in front of classrooms and audiences asking for donations in order to provide Christmas gifts for two families. Our class as a whole raised sixteen-hundred dollars in gifts and monetary contributions.
