Hi I'm Kyle

I am a student at Brigham Young University. I am a missionary serving in Japan. I love my family, and I'm a Mormon!

About Me

I was born in Phoenix, Arizona but moved to Colorado when I was 4, where I lived until attending college at Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah. I am now serving as a Missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in the Japan Tokyo Mission, speaking Japanese. I was raised Mormon by my wonderful family who loves me. When I was was in high school, I did everything I could related to music, and also excelled academically. I graduated 4th in my class, and participated in NHS, Musical theater (Annie, Guys and Dolls, Amahl and the Night Visitors, Les Miserables, and Forever Plaid), my show/chamber/jazz/acapella choir, concert choir, orchestra, marching band (drum line and later drum major), and wind ensemble. I have played piano since I was 5, and have learned to play guitar, violin, ukulele, ocarina, and various percussion instruments. I have also been singing from a young age. I am a proud Eagle Scout! My freshmen year at BYU was one of the most incredible experiences or my life! I loved every minute of college, both for the academic rigor, and the social aspects. I went on dates as often as possible, and got to know so many new people! I sang in the BYU Men's Chorus, which absolutely made my college experience perfect! It was an honor to sing with them, my brothers in the Gospel and in Music! I am happy to be serving the people of Tokyo, Japan, and am striving to attain fluency in the incredibly difficult Japanese language! Wish me luck! :)

Why I am a Mormon

Some people are under the erroneous impression that if you are born and raised a Mormon, that you automatically have a testimony of its teachings. This is simply not true. I have come to know of the goodness of God and the truth of the teachings of His church by praying and fasting often for a testimony. I know that both the Bible and Book of Mormon are true. I have a testimony of Joseph Smith as a prophet. He translated the Book of Mormon from plates of gold, as instructed by our Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ. I also have a testimony that President Monson is a true prophet of God, called to instruct us in our day, and to lead the church in righteousness. I know that the Plan of Salvation is for our happiness, and that Heavenly Father designed if for our growth and benefit. Jesus Christ as Jehovah and Adam as Michael created the earth under the direction of Heavenly Father. I know that Jesus Christ died for us. He suffered for our sins in the Garden of Gethsemane, and took upon him all of the pains, sufferings AND sins of the world. He knows me, and loves me dearly, with a perfect knowledge of what I am going through at this or any given point in my life. And I know that He loves you too! He wants us to be happy, but it is He who carries us through the hard times in our lives. I know this for myself, and you can as well. I say these things in the name of His son, Jesus Christ. Amen.

How I live my faith

Right now, I am serving with all my heart by sharing the Gospel with the people of Japan, a thing I have been waiting for my whole entire life to do! It is the most incredible experience ever! Before I left, however, I was a ward missionary, and a teacher of the Gospel Principles class. I would teach new converts and investigators on Sundays about the doctrines of our church, and I feel like this, as well as helping my local missionaries out with anything that I could, prepared me so much for my mission. I have also served as a home teacher, a Family Home Evening group leader (when I was at BYU), and various leadership positions when I was in the youth program.

How can we come to know our Father in Heaven?

Kyle
I know that I have come to know my dear Father in Heaven through regular and sincere prayer, regular scripture study, and by striving to live like His son, which entails keeping his commandments and trying my best to love and serve everyone around me. While some things are more individual, this is one opportunity that is open through the same means for everyone! If you do these things you WILL grow closer to and come to know our beloved Father in Heaven. Show more Show less
