Hi I'm Kaylene Awerkamp

I grew up in Arizona. I play volleyball. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am currently a Junior in High School and I am on the school volleyball team, and I play year round on a club team.I am one of 6 children in my family, and the second oldest. I enjoy talking and hanging out with friends. I also enjoy playing the piano and the violin as well as listening to music.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because this church is what makes me truly happy in life. I am often confronted and questioned as to why I am so happy and smiling all the time, and the only answer I can tell people is that through living the teachings of this church, I am able to have not just minimal satisfaction for moments at a time, but be happy all my life I will be happy because I have the light of the Savior reflecting in my life. Through this gospel, I can continue a life of righteousness, that in the end, makes me happier than I could ever be. I am able to know who I truly am, a daughter of my Heavenly Father, and know my divine purpose here on earth. I continue to live the gospel principles as a teenager, because I know that through living them, I will not have regrets and I can reach my full potential here on earth. I know through the gospel, that the Savior of the World, Jesus Christ, suffered for the sins of every person that will ever walk on the earth, and through that atonement, I can pray and ask for forgiveness, and return to my Heavenly Father someday; and because Christ went through the atonement, he knows every pain and suffering, both physical and emotional, so when I pray for help and answers to any of my questions, He can help comfort and give me answers because he knows exactly what I am going through.

How I live my faith

I continue to live my faith on a daily basis by being enrolled in Seminary, and attending it daily, and also going to my church meetings each Sunday. I also faithfully participate in my ward calling as the chorister in sacrament meeting. I choose to go to mutual each week with the other youth in my ward. I also dress modestly every day to respect the body my Heavenly Father has given me. I am actively reading my scriptures and praying daily for the strength I need to keep my standards the world we live in today. I try to be an example to others by living the principles in the "For Strength of Youth" pamphlet.
