Hi I'm Jessica

I love skiing, rafting, and camping. I sew whenever I can. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a stay at home mom to two little kids. I met my superstar husband on a chairlift while skiing. He proposed to me on top of Mt. Kilimanjaro. Life has been one big adventure ever since. Our family loves adventures and we always try to find a way to bring the kids with us. We love skiing, rafting, hiking, and camping together. I love to experience life through my childrens eyes as we explore the world around us. On the opposite end of the spectrum, I also LOVE to sew. I loveto create clothing for my kids and our home. Before I had kids, I was a middle school science teacher. Although teaching is great, I'm not missing it as I get to stay home and play with my kids all day long!

Why I am a Mormon

I'm a Mormon because I know that my Heavenly Father loves me. I know that I am his daughter. Because of this, I know that he has a plan for us to make us happy. One of the key parts of His plan is modern Day revelation. In a world where there are so many conflicting views and so many bad things around us, I take comfort knowing that I am led by a prophet of God. I know that President Monson speaks with God and gives our world the guidance that we need to get through all the difficulties that lie before us. So in addition to having all the prophets from the scriptures, I have a prophet who gives me councel to deal with the challenges I face, in addition to thousands of years of revelation from the scriptures. I also know that if I am facing trials in my own life, I can pray and receive personal revelation from the Holy Ghost about my problems. Another part of our faith that is so important to me is our emphasis on families. I know that because my husband and I were sealed together in the temple, our marriage will continue after death and into eternity. Our children have also been sealed to us, so if we live faithfully, we can be together forever. This knowledge brings me so much joy and peace. I can't imagine loving my family so much and then thinking that death would be the last time I see them. I know that God loves me and wants me to be happy and that's why I'm a Mormon!

How I live my faith

The greatest way that I live my religion is by being an example. I want people who see me to know that I know God , through the ways I speak and act. I want them to see me constantly trying to do my best and improve myself. I feel like one of my greatest responsibilities is to teach my children. Through the examples of myself and my husband, they are learning to pray, read the scriptures, and know that they are children of God. At church, I coordinate the one on one service among the ladies in our congregation. Service at church, in my neighborhood, and in my home, uplifts and gives me strength. Another way that I live my religion is to just be happy. The gospel of Jesus Christ brings me so much joy and I love to share that joy with others. A little smile goes a long way!

What is being a Mormon like?

Jessica
Honestly, being a Mormon is a blast. We go to church...A LOT! Each Sunday we are in meetings for 3 hours. The great thing is that those are some of the most renewing and rejuvenating hours of the week. You get to learn and feel the spirit and be surrounded by tons of amazing people. We're a really social group of people and friends are easy to find among our smiling group. We have activities all the time ranging from barbeques, cook-offs, talent shows, and sports games. Another thing that is a hallmark of Mormon activities is that there is usually lots of laughing and lots of good food! Being Mormon rocks! Show more Show less
