Hi I'm Marie

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a portrait photographer who especially loves photographing families and children. I think that might be because I cherish my own husband and little ones so much. We've been blessed with two daughters and one son and to capture their innocence and beauty is priceless to me. I also love to write. I graduated from BYU with a degree in print journalism and truly love the power of words and pictures, especially when combined. So, basically, blogging has rocked my world! Lately, I've really enjoyed writing lyrics, and I love getting feedback and encouragement from the blogosphere!

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up as a Mormon, and in my home and at church meetings, I was touched by the spirit and truthfulness of the gospel too many times to count. But I distinctly remember as a senior in high school experiencing a real change of heart and commitment to that testimony I'd been developing throughout my childhood, after repenting of some poor choices I was making. What humbled me enough to repent was when I took on a challenge from my parents to never let a day go by without reading the Book of Mormon. I decided to read the Book of Mormon cover to cover as fast as I could, and finished it after only a few days. As I read, the Spirit touched me so strongly that I truly felt like a new person with a solid testimony of my own. I knew that book was true and I've never been the same since.

How I live my faith

Over the last four years, I've absolutely loved teaching and serving the children in our area. They are so Christlike and pure! I've learned so much from them, and especially love singing time at church because the songs they sing are such a simple yet powerful testimony of our Savior.

What blessings can we receive through the gift of the Holy Ghost?

I am so thankful for the third member of the Godhead, the Holy Ghost. I can't imagine life without its influence in my life, especially as a mother trying to raise good kids--and especially as an often scatterbrained girl who regularly loses her keys! I can't tell you how often I've prayed for help as I search for this or that, and always, after I pray for guidance in finding my missing things, the Lord speaks to me through the Holy Ghost, and prompts me where to look! He truly cares and is involved in the details of our lives, and most people have felt the influence of the Holy Ghost at some point as truth is revealed to them or temporary comfort is given. But to qualify for the gift of the Holy Ghost (by being baptized and confirmed into the Church) is quite the blessing because then, if you keep the commandments, the Holy Ghost can always be with you!
